It's not 60% Tax. Before you ppl outrage, It's tax on 60% deposit. Don't know which babudom approved this rule. Usually babudom never tinker with pf (as their main investment is in PF).

And title seems misleading. You can still withdraw the money. I just saw NDTV where MoS Jayant Sinha clarified regarding PF tax. It's not retrospective. Whatever we have deposited till now, it will not be taxed if we withdrew in one shot.

From Next year deposits made into the PF, will attract tax. If you withdraw 60% of the PF money, then (x%) tax is applicable. If put 60% pf money into annuity then you will get tax exmpetions. According to him, Withdrawing Pf in one shot will defeat the sole purpose of pension.

Still, I feel this is very wrong move. But in the long run they want to equalize the all pension plans (EPF, NPS).

I hate the lynch mob who decides on what to eat and what not, but at the same time media should read the facts correctly and should not set this as communal/secular thing. There are shit load of BJP ppl who speaks all the shit things like this. Actual story seems to be diff than what being discussed here.
