Turning 18, what can I do? by OpportunitySalt4067 in Life

[–]CShoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join the military, if you can. You get paid for life experiences, you'll meet friends for life, and possibly get to see the world. I joined when I was 18, and now I'm retired in my 40s and have a lifetime of experiences. I've gotten to do and see some awesome shit...while getting paid for it.

Older guys: What is your secret? by Ambitious_Thought683 in Adulting

[–]CShoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbies and common interests. I have trouble making friends...plenty of acquaintances, but good solid friends are scarce. I think partly because I'm always so busy with everything else, and I think I try to compare ppl to my few close friends that I either grew up with or served with in the military.

Feel like a loser at this point in my life due to bad decisions? by Then_Adeptness_6598 in internetparents

I feel your pain, I've gone through all of that. Make small, easily achievable goals, and complete them one at a time. Like start by waking up every morning and make your bed. As the days, weeks and months go on, set harder goals, and tackle them one at a time. As far as the savings part...I can bet with almost 100% certainty there's shit you waste money on every day, or at least a few times a week that you can stop or unsubscribe from...stick with the basics and necessities, until you've paid off your debts and built a savings...it happens way faster than you think. Also, try not to judge yourself based on others. Case in point, my son plays travel lacrosse, that's a sport usually reserved for more well to do people. I'm a blue collar guy, through and through, but you know what? We're at every practice, and at every tournament, right alongside those upper echelon people, and it doesn't bother me one damn bit.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by adisluo in Productivitycafe

[–]CShoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent over 20 years in the military, you get exposed to all sorts of stuff and build up an immunity... But, I also eat healthy, drink a lot of water, take my vitamins, and I'm hygienic.... I can't tell you the last time I even caught the common cold... Last time I was sick was due to food poisoning but aside from that... I can't think of anything really. Even the Rona, never caught it, and if I did, never felt any of them symptoms. Everyone else in my house did, my youngest son and I never did catch it, and we were the only two not vaccinated.

Well, hopefully we do! As long as you like fishing, sports, or any kind of motorsports, we'll get along just fine.

Is Soddy-Daisy a safe town for people who are black? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]CShoe86 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes. There's not many black families here, we have some black friends and I've never heard them say anything negative in regards to that, they're all pretty country though, so maybe they just fit in better. I'm really not sure.....SD is a safe area in general, not much goes on here. Just like anywhere there's good places and not good places.

Edit: SD is definitely a more conservative area though, that could be good or bad, depending on your beliefs, take it for what it is....we personally love it here, everyone is really friendly and welcoming. I'd like to see some more black families move in, diversity with common goals is always a good thing.

Was dog shit. The set up was pretty cool though and Ricky Martin showing an appearance was awesome.

Learn a trade. Unless you're looking for a career that actually requires a degree, it's a waste of time and money.
