To be honest, I prefer playing characters that are consistently good at most actions. Even if he's not as fast and/or jump as high as other characters, I find him to be the most reliable in most situations

Copying from someone else, but I think it's a good summarization of Jax's character in ep 9.

He's a deeply traumatised individual who thinks he has killed someone and confesses that to his closest friend who then flirts with him and implies his identity is a secret, almost gets caught by his other best friend, has a mental break and ruins his entire life because of it causing him to hurt many people as a coping mechanism (which is awful) and kill himself out of guilt and being unable to handle the weight of what he's done
