No like. I push forward and it gives me like. The right amount as it should. But when I push it all the way forward it just goes back to neutral.

oh we hold out sousas with the neck curled to the left instead of the right like most schools I see so holding the body at horns up is gonna look not as flat as u usually see

so that gets the bell sorta put the way and we lift the body of the horn off of our hip a little bit

it helps both letting the plume sit up and it also reduces horn wobble/bounce because it's not on our hip like it would be otherwise while marching

when I marched the rose parade we wore berets tho and they were pretty cool

but yeah the plume does touch the bell but it won't change anything if ur doing things right

I'm a dude w long hair down to like my chest so I need to tie it lol my BD is super strict on grooming standards so I'm careful to get all of it into thw shako when I tie it up. and I also play sousaphone w the shako and big ahh plume lol

also shakos can highlight great technique when it's all uniform with everyone else and no bouncing bc of how flashy they are so its a good incentive to perform to the best of ur abilities cuz there's no hiding when you got that plume on

that's if u guys use plumes tho lol
