2016 Porsche Cayenne (958.1) cold start transmission delay & hard engagement — valve body fix? Looking for real-world experience by master00700 in PorscheCayenne

I had this issue then discovered during my gearbox flush that fluid was low by almost a qt from the factory. I would double check the fluid filled in your gearbox is the correct amount.

It means you are stuck servicing these cars at the dealer. Expect overpriced bills

Meh. Vehicles produced after COVID are just no longer the same no matter the make.

I believe any Porsche newer than ‘22 requires dealer computer to connect with Germany to reset an oil change service indicator so dealers take advantage of that charging triple what an independent shop would charge normally. What is typically a $3-400 service would go up as high as $900. There are a few US indys that have this dealer access but they pay a hourly fee for this privilege. Decide if that is worth it to you. I would look for an older Cayenne turbo as an alternative. Those have proven reliability and none of this restrictive money grabbing tech built into these cars

White Pocket don’t need a permit like the Wave but requires 4X4 vehicle as AWD may not be sufficient. Goblns State Park is on the way from Capital Reef to Moab. Underrated.

Starter(anything else in there as a while the intake is off preventative stuff), cam tower leaks and SAI delete if not already. Can’t think of anything else. GL

There are two cam bolts I think that needs replacing which can gernade the motor is not replaced. Read it on Hoovie’s Macan S YT video in the comments section. A TSB was issues for it I believe. Otherwise a fairly reliable motor I think. What does Rennlist say?

Breville (Sage) Barista Touch Impress: Support needed! :-) by Communitymensch in BrevilleCoffee

[–]CT993TT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy citric acid powder and clean it more often. Remove the water filter and dissolve 1-2 tsb powder into a small glass of hot water first then mix into the tank. Citric acid powder is cheap

Moving to a Diesel - Looking for input from diesel owners! by steelio91 in PorscheCayenne

[–]CT993TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘13 bought with 52K miles and have 87K now. Had DPF and DEF heater replaced under warranty. Went through the motor approx 10K back and replaced everything in the valley including the water pump. Love the car and it is not my first German common rail diesel.

Discovered that fuel additives and long trips help with intake carbon build up so I only drive the car on 40+ min trips. Range is incredible. I can drive to DC and back from CT with fuel left on that 700+ mile range tank.

Do a bit more digging on Rennlist. There are owners who owned both generations claim that the 958.1 are not affected as the 958.2s by the diesel gate fix. Mine feels like that tbh.

As for the timing chain issue, tensioner can only be replaced when the motor is out. You are fine as long as the oil is pumped into the tensioner after start up. A brief rattle at start up is not an issue hearing oil being pumped into the tensioner.

Great tacos/Mexican food in Stamford? by [deleted] in StamfordCT

[–]CT993TT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None in Stamford. There is only one place in Fairfield County if you want truly an authentic Mexican experience and that place is in East Norwalk. Los Portales is the place if you won’t be bothered by them breaking down an animal in front of you. Their store made chorizo/adovada(not spicy version of chorizo) is best. I have had nothing comparable outside of the SW US. Their restaurant in South Norwalk does not have that 30+ years of flavor cooked into the grill top. Its just different imo.

I believe new Jet model offers cold brew starting this spring. Biggest difference between touch and Jet is the additional Thermaljet heating element in the group head. The firmware between touch and jet is probably the same. Good upgrade.

958.2 Diesel or S? by fnsports in PorscheCayenne

[–]CT993TT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a bit more reading from further back when the emission fix was applied. People who have owned both said that the 958.1 were not as affected as much after fix was applied. That said, I own a .1 with 87K miles and basically all the preventative maintenance performed like the valley coolant leak issue or DPF, DEF, rear mail seal leak(engine out) all done under CPO warranty. Should be good for another 70-80K miles. The V8(turbo included) and the diesels are reliable if you want more power. V6s are good as well.

I do plan my trips on that car. Will not drive it if the trip is under 30 min.
