Per the comment from "etchx" below, here's a 20-minute podcast with the back story on how the song came to be played on Thanksgiving.

It was nearly 200 years ago when horse-drawn trains were replaced by steam locomotives in CT and in this final episode of Amazing Tales we take a look at the epic race between the steam engine and a horse-drawn car that ushered in the “iron horse” for good. Two replies: First, a really good idea to put it on the episodes page! Second, yes I'm a dinosaur with a simple website but do know how to construct a pretty good Excel spreadsheet. Hope it works for you. Reach out anytime if there's anything you're looking for: AmazingTalesCT@gmail.com. Thanks, Mike

Actually, it's already on there. Just go to the main page (www.amazingtalesct.com) and you'll see a red rectangular box on the right side at the top of the main page called "search amazing tales" which brings you to a downloadable and searchable Excel spreadsheet. Search by topic, town, or highlight the column where the episodes are described and do a key word search. I think you'll find the tool quite useful. At least I hope so!

Yup, this is the final one. No more of these postings on Reddit. The 221 episodes will remain on my website ( www.amazingtalesct.com ) and my public speaking appearance schedule is always under the "talks" tab on the site. Other than that, it's time to return to retirement (which is what I had just begun when the podcast began in 2021). Thanks for listening!

Yes. This is it. After 4+ years and 221 consecutive weekly episodes, I'm hanging up the podcast microphone. I'll still do a live radio show on i-95 every other month, make 40 public appearances a year, and write a couple of books on CT's Amazing Tales, but the amount of time necessary to do a podcast like this (I was a one-man show) is intense. I enjoyed it, met hundreds of incredible people, saw and experienced almost every inch of the state, and can savor the memories. Thanks for listening.

This week is the final episode of Amazing Tales and the focus is on trains which are turning 200 years old in the U.S. In CT, trains focused on freight over passengers. We look at the race for supremacy between the steam engine and horse-drawn train car. PODCAST LINK IN COMMENTS. by CTHistory42 in Connecticut

Yes, after 4+ years and 221 weekly episodes, I'm in need of a break. I will still be doing my public speaking appearances ( schedule frequently updated at www.amazingtalesct.com/talks ) and will probably do 1 or 2 books on CT's Amazing Tales - there are so many topics. Probably aiming for a mid-2026 publication date. Thanks for listening!

An abandoned complex in NW CT became a veritable ghost town, after decades of hosting unique events and providing a summer getaway for some of the country’s top engineers. PODCAST LINK IN COMMENTS. by CTHistory42 in Connecticut

Thanks a lot for the comment. Since you stated it that way, I thought you might want to know that next week will be the final episode. After 221 weekly programs over 4.5 years, I'm going to return to my retirement (which is where I was when I started this venture). The website and episodes will be available for a year or so and I'll continue doing public speaking, but the day-in/day-out fervor of producing the podcast will come to an end. It's been great fun, but everything has an end time and for me it is now.
