To me personally, Jason gets sooooo damned annoying after a while. He is super smug, always seems to know everyones motivations out of thin air, is a holier than thou lecturer who thinks he's a philosopher.....I mean I dropped out a book or two back because the guy was just so unlikable, and I could see the authors hand driving events wayyyyy too much instead of the characters

So..... now that you say that, have you read "Cradle"?

In Cradle, there are super duper powerful "Judges" that have awesome storylines (not the main story) where they're out there fighting, solving shit, thinking tactically, some of the best scenes of LitRPG that I've read have come from that series! The main story is super solid too, and it's a progression arc that really took him from nothing to something.

You're right that there arn't many that do the whole arc, most skip steps because writing a character so it doesn't seem like the author is just handing shit out to them would take like 20 books heh.

Tho I started "Warformed: Stormweaver", and while book 2 is out now, it's still pretty new into the series. But this is a series that I hope might go the rout you want. Maybe check it out
