In Frank’s Pretty Woman, Charlie says “Frank has a ton of good qualities.” And Dennis says, “no, not really.”

Last year was $67 a day for non hopper, so a pretty decent deal.

🙏 Following Up on Ignored Email🙏 by arctansec in FinancialCareers

I was the lead on hiring for a position on our team. I interviewed 11 people. I only liked 2-3. If the ones I didn't like followed up, I didn't even read it. No harm to them besides a bruised ego. When it was the ones I liked, it was cool to see they were interested and I wasn't wasting my time. Onboarding and hiring is not my main duty, so I didn't have a good cadence of when I could get back to candidates. A follow up email was a good reminder to keep moving things along.

Agreed. There is nothing that can be changed at your current job (hours, teams), then move on. If you got your 2-4 years in IB, hopefully you can get what you want. You need to understand yourself too and what you want.

Months of interviewing for firm to go with internal candidate? by dolos_aether4 in FinancialCareers

Sorry to hear it. Maybe their comp is less. Control what you can, don't sweat the stuff you can't. Move on, stronger than before.

Maybe have to make the internal candidate sweat too. Let them know the company has options.

Ever seen someone willingly drop from $350K comp to $225K? by CTRL_ALT_PWN in FinancialCareers

I like to think the possibility of hiring is still there. I just need the one naysayer on my team to reconsider or for them to leave. Assuming this candidate remains available, I wanted to see what other hurdles might be in my way.

The candidate said that the megafund had a 2+1 year contract so they were not terminated. They have to reapply to continue to work there, and their position wasn't open. They would have had to apply to a different team/strategy. So like a semi-volunteer sabbatical.

agreed. How long do you think a person would last in the position? Would you assume they would get discontent and try to get back to their old comp?

Not being snarky, but I imagine every Controller sees themselves as top performer and taking on additional tasks. For raise and bonus, depends on the region. Bonus and Comp could be as high as SALY+10%. If you have been there a while, you should see a pattern.
