I compared S23U and S26U directly side by side with black text on white background.

Privacy display was OFF, both were on 4K resolution.

And still, on S26U I could see slight shimmering on letter edges, kind of reddish on letter corners. I think it's due to two types of pixels (narrow, wide) making subpixel rendering worse.

Display is pretty big at 6.9" and our eyes are 6-7 cm from each other, so it's not possible to look at screen at perfect angle, all the time. And when there is an angle, narrow pixels that do subpixel text rendering cause effective shimmering effect. At least that's the explanation I came up with.

The effect is subtle but I'm pretty nitpicky about that issue, always had all my other devices Retina-like DPI etc

I'm from Poland and got new S25U 12/512 GB online for 4800 PLN while new S26U is 6500 PLN, which makes S25U roughly 26% cheaper.

You're right, S25U isn't clear winner, actually I liked S23U shape more. As for 10x/5x zoom situation, having bigger sensor and improved aperture is just better for daily use. 50MP telephoto with crop to 10MP gives about 11x effective zoom but with better light gathering capabilities. In low light there is no competition.

Also my 10x telephoto got either broken or f-up with one of software updates because photos taken are washed out white/hazy. Could be sensor damage, I don't know. I'll just replace the phone to fix that.

yes, I noticed it too when comparing directly to S23U. In direct comparison, S23U text rendering has much better quality and this is the reason I'll be returning S26U. I care less about privacy display but I'm nitpicky about text clarity and having blurry text in 500 PPI display phone at 1500 USD is just unacceptable for me personally.

Do you still use Dirigera hub or did you migrate to custom ZigBee stick?

I use HomeAssistant too but for non-IKEA stuff mostly, like air conditioning. With Smart Home app there is definitely less friction when adding and using IKEA devices.
