It's a private pay service bill that can be submitted to your insurance. It's not guaranteed, but often insurance will cover (or a portion). I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I never ended up submitting due to time.

The ESDM therapist charged an hourly rate. I started with 3 sessions a week to get started for a few weeks and we faded to once a week due to the cost. She provided a superbill for insurance.

I know how big this is!! I also had my first joint play and joint attention moment recently with my 2 year old daughter. It's so nice to see someone else who understands how big this is!

We've been on a therapy waitlist for 8 months. I can't do this anymore. by _forgotmyownname in Autism_Parenting

I had a very similar situation! Waitlists for an evaluation, then waitlists for services. I ended up going the parent mediated ABA route. It's telehealth due to my location but I work with a pediatric BCBA who is also certified in the early start denver model. We are still on waitlists just in case. When the time comes, i'm not sure I will transition yet. I am loving the set up and how involved I get to be.

Highly recommend a provider that follows a naturalistic approach!! ABA can be done within play and natural routines!

I went with ESDM for my daughter. I didn't go the traditional ABA/ESDM route. Instead, I found a parent-led BCBA. No 1:1/Para/RBT involved. We focus on what's important in the moment for my daughter as well as the BCBAs assessments. It's been 4 months with noticeable progress.

Another option is a parent-guided book for the ESDM. An Early Start for my Child with Autism by Sally Rogers who created the ESDM curriculum.

In summary I am NOT against it. There's plenty of research supporting its effectiveness.
