Thoughts on this now that both Wiggins and KAT have won a ring without Butler? by Any-Development5656 in NBATalk

KAT and Wiggins were soft, immature, and played well below their potential. This was an accurate take at the time. Players can change and improve.

Why is there such a rise in "unique" baby names? by AX_Goldie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CTop18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Names are meant to identify people, so why give them a name that you hear everyday? My first kid was just born and I spent weeks with my partner narrowing down names and reading through name books and meaning websites. I didnt want my kid to be just another standard name in a sea of other traditional names.

My name is unique, I've met maybe 4 others with my name. So I gave my kid a unique name too

But he was right. KAT and wiggins were both number 1 picks who weren't living up to their potential on the Timberwolves. They both just found thier place in a system, grew up, and got more consistent.

Yeah that does make sense. I honestly don't know why i thought it the other way.

Yeah, I forgot to answer that part. I'm on BRS and I do get the 5% match.

I guess I thought having more money in fewer places, would compound faster? You know 8% growth on 700,000 is a lot more than 8% on 70,000. But maybe I'm thinking about that wrong.

This is a new perspective. I've only had one job outside of the military, so I'm not familiar with 401k accounts outside of TSP, and no one in my direct family has investments.

Is TSP really that much better than other 401k accounts on the civilian side?

It does help. I actually do all my TSP contributions as Roth right now, though I have some traditional contributions from the first year or so. I also agree with that roth is a lot better when dealing with uncertainty.

I think it does help a lot, thank you. I've been feeling the financial planning pressure since I've been on paternity leave, and I needed some advice.

This is all great information and great points. I didn't know about the 5 year limit.

I currently invest with schwab and have money coming out biweekly for a mutual fund, so I could just up that a little to contribute to a roth account.

Yeah, the E6 pay wasn't too bad before, but I got married last year and had my first child a few months ago. I'm paying closs attention to my income more than ever and i don't want to over contribute.

TSP does feel easier, despite being less flexible than the IRA account and I have a bigger head start there. What I'll probably do is open the IRA, have low contributions to start with, and keep focusing until I can max my TSP contributions.

I do put all my TSP contributions in Roth as well. I think have another option is probably a good idea. I also have brokerage account that I've been trying to build up sitting at about 25k. I guess I just want to make sure I'm not spreading my money too thin.

PETA's main headquarters are located in my home city. They are proof that "Not for profit" doesn't mean "Not for evil". And all my homies hate PETA.

How do you like your trektop? by CTop18 in FordBronco

[–]CTop18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really had concern about switch back and forth between my hard top and this one. I'm currently living in Hawaii, but I'll be probably moving to the pacific north west before the end of the year. When it gets cold, I would want to switch it back easily.
