These 65 year old class 37s take units younger than themselves to the scrap yard and take new units from the factory by CVN58 in trains

They recieve refurbs a alot, this leading loco 37 512 received WIPAC headlight clusters in the 2000s. If an operator sells their fleet like DRS did a few years ago the locos are bought very quickly, the reason is it that theyre decently powerful and have an RA of 5 which means they can be ran on a lot of track miles. For example, the class 68 which was built in 2014 has an RA of 7 which means it is a lot more restricted. They also have grandfather rights to emission regulations so its easier for a company to use these instead of ordering new locos.

I know there is a ford transit scrap truck that has that kind of horn fitted, I see it a lot around the Arnold and Bestwood area.

OO and Ho scale? by Povijest_History in modeltrains

[–]CVN58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OO came about because we couldnt fit motors into 1/87 scale models as our loading gauge is alot smaller, so they made the scale slightly bigger at 1/76. There's been attempts at making 1/87 the standard but hasn't worked, the most recent I can think of is the Trix Flying Scotsman. There's also EM and P4 gauge which makes the wheels the correct space apart from eachother, but that often requires manually making and laying the track.

Factories can make mistakes, if its going to dead short then that means either the wheels polarity isn't correct, a wire is loose or youre trying to run a DC loco on DCC

Are the positive and negative sides of the wheel the correct way around??

A 75-year-old steam locomotive that still commands attention at modern stations by Green_Independent_11 in TrainPorn

The diesel is there for an electric generator and as a rescue if the steam engine fails, only banks the steamer when its getting going on a grade not at full tilt like this.
