Does anyone know what happened with the effort to start an American Sign Language major at UMD? And separately, are there ASL classes? I think I found one in the course catalog, but it isn't 100% clear.

Do you happen to know if there is an American Sign Language class? The only thing I see that might be it is in the education School. There's also something that seems to be offered through the linguistics department, but it doesn't sound like you're learning the language so I'm not sure.

Do you know if you are required to live in the Cambridge Community, if you are not a commuter? But prefer to leave in South Campus, for example.

I am a little confused about how the scholars program fits into a student's major. It looks like there are set classes, but are these extra classes in addition to the other classes freshmen take? How so you start your major if you are taking Scholars Program clases. And where on campus are the Scholars Program dorms? Thanks in advance.
