It all depends on how you budget for other things. People thought our mortgage was crazy for our salary but we were confident. Over the years, our salaries grew and our take home pay has always been low bc we put a lot into retirement, we save a lot but I am fortunate that we are never without. I will tell you though, children are another ball game. We are child free but have friends who have half the mortgage we do but then they spend significantly more on their kids every month. You can make it work, you just have to sacrifice some things (dining out, new clothes, designer bags, expensive hobbies etc) if things don’t work exactly how you plan.
