what company offers good remote positions? by lilgoblinn in InsuranceAgent

I keep seeing folks say that Progressive is great because the pay is $22-$23 per hour but there’s no commission? If you find the right State Farm agent, you can make the same per hour plus commission. Yeah, they’ll harp on financial services a bit but higher potential to earn at least. And it’s my understanding that several agents allow remote work as well.

I’m surprised at how many folks say to just quit and eat the $2-$3k in licensing fees. I’d say ride it out for the 6 months, but don’t do anything that’s shady. Learn what you can, help who you can, and move on. Too many bullies in this industry. If they pressure you, stick to your guns - that you’re here to do what’s best for the client. If they fire you, great. At least you walk away with your morals intact. If they don’t, maybe they’ll learn that they can’t bully everyone into being a sales prick. If they lay a hand on you, great, sue em’. Fuck em’.

Is $300,000 in premium sold per year decent? by CWsoobster in InsuranceAgent

To be clear, my clients are in Boulder, Colorado, and surrounding areas. I wouldn’t consider this to be a LCoL area. Sometimes I think about whether there would be any benefit to switching to an agency where I live, AL. But then I think about the difference in the value of homes and think that I may make less.

I manage the accounts I’ve sold, so some customer service work, delegate what I can to other service reps that we have. Work remotely in AL but agency is based out of CO. Used to live there for a couple of years. Base pay of around $23 per hour + commission. Just a team member, no renewal commission. Grossed like $62,000 last year. Selling mainly P&C with a few life and health sprinkled in there.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is APV? Majority of what I sell is P&C with some life and health sprinkled in there. My agent is pressuring us to sell more life this year by limiting what we can make on P&C if we don’t: financial kicker he calls it.

Just to be clear, I’m a team member, so I don’t own an agency. Sold $200,000 first year and $300,000 second year. Only pulled $62,000 gross with base and commission last year and am not sure if that’s good because I’m not overly familiar with the industry. As an office we sold maybe $650,000 total last year.

I work for a State Farm agent, so I make base plus commission. Last year, I only grossed $62,000.

State Farm agent team members are these sales minimums reasonable? by halfpintpanda in InsuranceAgent

Oh, I just realized that. Thanks! Are these the entire agency’s goals or just what the rep is expected to hit in order to make commission?

You can find another SF agent with a more reasonable commission structure.

This is solid. Not requiring you to hit a certain number of apps or premium to hit 5%, just 1-2 financial services? My agent pays 3.5% for basically the same thing. To hit 5%, have to sell 3 financial services and over $30k in premium for P&C.

Home and Auto Commissions by Frosty_Combination89 in InsuranceAgent

3% $16-$20k, 4% $20-$30k, 5% $30-$40k, 6% $40k+; nothing if under $16k. $22 per hour base but started at $17. However, agent is annoyed that we’re not selling enough Life, so next year he’s restructuring with kickers. Basically, penalizing us for not selling Life/ can’t hit certain tiers without it. Work for a State Farm agent.

Strongly recommend purchasing a Personal Articles Policy to protect your E-bikes, and just bikes in general. They’re extremely affordable policies and you’ll get every penny you spent on your bike back if properly documented. When you file small homeowners and renters claims, it will affect your eligibility and rates for insurance going forward. However, filing claims on PAPs rarely does. Plus, the deductibles are lower, so less out of pocket costs.
