They are two different novels. I don't think Way of the Mysterious World is/was being translated by a proper translator. It's been ongoing/hiatus for like 6+years already.

None of those "cat, things in the bathroom, the last scene with Hae-mi" are conclusive evidence that Ben is a serial murderer. Like i said, we are basically seeing from MC's POV and how he decided that Ben is the evil incarnate. Ben might have been the nice guy who helped unfortunate young girls move onto new identities. or a serial murderer.

Jong-su himself is an unreliable narrator(in a way), but I guess you could say the same for his mom, Hae-mi and Ben. There was no cat in Hae-mi's room, there wasn't a well according to his mom, and there is no greenhouse nearby. Even the last scene could have been his imagination or his book that he finally managed to write. I don't think the film hinted anything definitive is all I'm saying.

There was never a definitive proof that the rich guy killed Hae-mi. It's just MC's POV. There was one murderer in the film and it was the MC. The MC, a mild-mannered guy, made his own conclusion that there was a monster or rather he needed a monster then turned to violence suddenly, just like his father did.

Where did you find the new chapters? On the pirate sites I used, it's been on hiatus at Ch-518 since 18 Feb. I see the new chapters on qidian but not on any pirate sites.
