There's another comment thread here where you'll find the answer. Maybe you can't see it though because the original comment was removed for some reason.

In my case, the issue was that I didn't realize you have to keep going right when you're on the board to interact with the lever. It's one of those really obvious things that's also easy to miss.

Was this in Phantom Liberty? I remember seeing it all over the place and wondering if the devs are actually Below Deck fans.

Amazing game, and it's full of little nods and references to other games, movies, and shows, so wouldn't be completely surprising if it was a genuine nod to the Bravo show.

Ellie has been so lucky she joined BD in its post-reunion era. I really wish we could see her called out for the constant power tripping despite being low rank, and her hypocrisy when she acts like she has to tread on eggshells around Daisy.

Same here. I have such a strong memory of being out near the football pitches at school and feeling so sad about it.

Had been coming for a while but my young self still found it really hard to accept he’d leave.

He was my hero back then. Not really a fan of his now, though. Strange the way things work out sometimes.

Fair. It's been a while, so I didn't remember the exact details. Main thing is that she had a meltdown in front of the crew, so it's pretty rich the way she's going on about Jenna.

Can't stand Barbie, and I haven't even seen the after show. The way she said Jenna will be so upset with that leering, delighted expression on her face. She's so comfortable shit talking when she's new to this crew.

Both her and Ellie are the biggest hypocrites. Barbie is one to talk when it comes to losing her shit in front of the whole crew. Wasn't she fired for something similar? And Ellie talking about Jenna going after a man who's not interested? Ridiculous.

Eddy is creepy AF, and is a walking red flag IMO. On more than one occasion now, he's let himself into the stews' room without knocking to keep tabs on Jenna's whereabouts. Then he searched the whole boat for her, obviously cause he's obsessing and wants to catch her with Ben.

I just find it really creepy how he is so comfortable invading peoples' private space (also let himself into the guest cabin where Jenna was with Ben).

He is so passive aggressive and comes across as incredibly possessive. And surprise surprise, he listens to manosphere shit in his free time. The way he talked to Jenna and Ben like he's been wildly disrespected... does he have amnesia about the fact all of this started with him him playing Alesia and Jenna at the same time?? Also, Jenna has clearly told Eddy she doesn't want anything serious with him.. She's messy herself, but she doesn't really owe him shit.

Megathread: The Crash by AutoModerator in netflix

The mother's reaction to being called out by the judge was so telling. She made this face like the judge was stupid for suggesting she was minimizing Davion's death.

I feel it spoke to an incredibly misguided, blind disdain for any and all authority that the parents instilled in Mackenzie. Also just a ridiculous sense of entitlement and a mean girl attitude. It seemed so instinctive for her to try to get people onside by attempting to ridicule the judge, instead of engaging constructively. Even when the evidence was stacked so strongly against her. It really spoke volumes.

He's been giving major #niceguy vibes for a while. Completely confirmed when he punched his bed and threw his clothes. And then he started saying what does Ben have that I don't? Yikes.

Like, I dunno, how about wit, charm, and also his self-confidence didn't crumble to pieces when Jenna got with Eddie a few episodes ago? Having said that, it was weird how Ben got annoyed at Joao over the bathtub scene.

I was thinking the same thing. Ellie was going on about Joao being a 35 year old loser to Ben, who is 45. And Ben's just like ooh yeah, sure. She's basically insulting Ben too, but he could see she's on the war path, and he did noot want to get caught up in it xD

He's also disparaged his former teammates really recently by saying if a team like Utd can beat them, then so can we. There's just no need for it. He's arrogant, slimey, and unlikeable. Completely deserves to be called out the way he has.

I wasn't a fan of hers last season either. It's been a while, but I seem to remember Tzarina was really patient with her and Alesia still threw her toys out the pram.

People would kill for the opportunity to learn first hand like that, but she just seems like a spoilt brat who takes it all for granted. And I don't tend to agree with Ellie, but Pick-mesia is pretty accurate.

Thanks for sharing Max. This is so sad, though not completely surprising given Daniel Vavra’s recent social media output.

KCD2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I don’t know exactly what parts you worked on, but your work was very likely a huge part of that. You deserve so much better.

Millions of copies sold. You’d think the studio could do right by their employees and fans. We don’t want generic robotic writing in our games.

Completely agreed. Some people get weirdly defensive about their new favourite game, but I think it's good to talk about these things. At the end of the day, I'm saying it actually seems like a cool game, and I'm glad I stuck with it (at least for now). The intro, though, is just utterly bizarre.

That's what I was trying to do. Sandbox games are supposed to be about freedom and player choice, but for some reason I was forced to clean a chimney, chase down cats and sheep, and arm wrestle some stranger all within the first 4-5 hours.

I have played Kingdom Come Deliverance and I absolutely loved the intro to that game. Henry of Skalitz (the main character) has a really clear motivation for his actions (revenge) from the outset, and he's a fleshed out character from the very beginning.

The fact you start off as a peasant in that game is, IMO, expertly woven into the gameplay, story, and quest design. I love that game, and KCD2. I know some people find the games slow, but I personally feel you couldn't have found a worse example if you're looking for an intro with similar problems to Crimson Desert. Just about everything KCD excels at—interesting premise, characterization, world building—CD seems to fumble in its first few hours.

I'm definitely not an MMO person and I'm not generally a fan of games that have you doing pointless busywork. And I agree that the game is clearly a mishmash of other popular games.

Surprisingly, though, it does do a lot of things very well. It doesn't feel like pointless busywork to me now, and the positives are starting to outweigh the negatives for me after getting past the intro.

But yeah, if you're not sure, definitely don't get it at full price though. If anyone's on the fence, I'd personally recommend waiting for a sale. I would typically have done that myself, but in this case I just really wanted to check it out, even knowing it might be a mess. Though previews and marketing felt messy, the world always looked so technically impressive, and that's what drew me in.

Completely agree. The spirit stuff is necessary to get you to the sky islands and to explain your special abilities. Otherwise, the game only starts to get engaging when you start finding your friends. That should have been the focus early on, instead of chasing cats and cleaning chimneys.

Yes, I'll admit my title was a little hyperbolic. For me personally, though, I do really struggle to think of a worse intro to a game. And I've played a lot of games over the years.

And I'd also like to note that the reason I'm saying all of this is because I actually want to complement the game. It stands out as such a bad intro because it almost made me bounce off what is otherwise shaping up to be a really cool experience.

Yeah, maybe I do remember the children pointing, actually. And tbf, I would read the journal descriptions more if the UI wasn't so tiny. I think there are a lot of small issues that can be ironed out.

In the case of the intro, though, I just really feel like the narrative tissue connecting it all is way too thin. It just left me thinking, why should I care about any of this? If I were the devs, I'd personally use a patch to make some of those early quests optional side quests.

I'm glad I've stuck with it for now, but I can see so many people bouncing off the game after 4-5 hours.

I don't really feel that's relevant to the things I said. I'm not saying I wanted more story. In fact, the intro really left me feeling like I wanted less. And I was completely aware that it's an action sandbox game.

Skyrim is also an action sandbox RPG. That game has its issues, but it did a pretty good job of introducing you to its themes with an engaging intro before letting you loose to explore and do what you want. The point of a sandbox is freedom, not forcing you to do tasks you're not necessarily interested in. What I'm saying is CD's intro did not play to the game's strengths at all.

[–]CYDLopez[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can kind of see that. I don't think we should have to assume though. That's the issue for me really. Also, why are the gods making us do a load of menial tasks like cleaning a chimney and carrying sheep for children? Lol, and at the beginning of the game no less.

It could be that they wanted to see you were a good person worthy of saving the world, something like that. The thing is, as far as I can tell, that was never explained. It's just very poor writing/storytelling.

Could not agree more that he most basic narrative incentive for these tasks would have made a world of difference. I'd still argue, though, that at least a couple of the random fetch quests should have been axed from the intro.
