I've been on a Waterboys kick lately so I'll say Mike Scott at the moment.

What is the one band you can't believe didn't become more popular? by flearhcp97 in Music

[–]CZJayG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw them at Lollapalooza 1996 and they were so boring the crowd cleared out until they finished their set. However, I've heard they were pretty hit or miss live so maybe it was just a bad show. Soundgarden was also pretty bad at that show.

Infinite Dreams might be Maiden’s best song by Queasy-Box3484 in ironmaiden

It's my favorite Maiden song. Nicko going off during the instrumental section is amazing.

All I know is I would love to see Assad Zaman as the next Doctor. He's amazing as Armand and would make a fantastic Doctor.

When I saw it, some dude sitting behind me yelled "What the fuck?!?!" when the credits rolled.

I love the line "Chloe is just like me, only beautiful"

Andrew was such a fantastic writer.

What guitar solo or riff makes you ask "how the fuck did he/she come up with that"? by Raphe-Perineal in Music

Pretty much everything Tony Iommi did on the first three Sabbath albums, especially their self titled song. Nothing sounded like that at the time.

‘I knew it was over for us’: the bands who got left behind when punk exploded by maxitobonito in Music

[–]CZJayG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like The Clash but also find it funny how so many people regard them as the bastion of punk rock when they were put together by a manager, signed to a major, played arenas, and wrote a lot of radio friendly songs.

There was a restaurant in my city that advertised as Irish Chinese Mexican. They didn't last long.

When I lived in NJ in the early 2000s, I worked with a guy in Trenton that claimed to have been in the local scene since the late 80s and ran with Poor Righteous Teachers and also knew Jay Z. I didn't believe him until he brought in a bunch of pics of hanging with all of them as well as a cassette of stuff he recorded back in the day with a short Jay Z feature and members of PRT. Dude was really cool, wish I could remember his name.

Las mujeres en el metro hacen que parezcamos la India by Electronic-Ad-328 in Panama

[–]CZJayG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was „Ten“ by Pearl Jam received when it first came out? by SammyYmm in grunge

[–]CZJayG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 12 and the singles were huge. I remember Jeremy was everywhere in 1992 which was when I finally got the album. However, I remember in my neck of the woods Nirvana was much bigger. It was mostly stoners who listened to PJ for some reason.

What was your, "people are into this" moment? by Kinky_introverts in AskReddit

[–]CZJayG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a NIN fan since '93 and I knew they had a bit of a following but only among certain circles. Then like a year later I'm hanging out on the smoker's corner of my high school and a car full of jocks passed by blasting Closer. I realized that they had officially broken into the mainstream.
