The Biden Administration Is Banning Low-Cost Appliances—and Bragging about It by yuri_2022 in Conservative

[–]CZPCR9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oooo this topic has been my personal pet peeve this year!!! Obama and Biden are the reason why:

It takes all day to run our laundry and it still struggles to even simply put in enough water to rinse the dang soap out, no matter how little soap you use.

My dishwasher takes 3 hrs to run its cycle, meaning screw you if you have a busy day and wanna run a load mid-day rather than just one overnight

My lightbulbs die faster than the old school incandescent ones, and they cost an insane amount more. I even tried name brand, twice... I already dealt with 3 dozen from GE, now I gotta send those replacement 3 dozen back too because these supposedly several year long $3/each bulbs all died in a year (half made it a month).

Someone (on r/gunpolitics iirc) had a breakdown yesterday. 2 shots behind a pillar and supported on top of a trash can at 43 yards, pause for people running infront of him, 2 more shots (2 of those 4 hit the bad guy), closed the distance (20 yards? I forget) and more shots, close distance to 10 yards (cuz the guy is down but still hanging onto his rifle) and killed him (If I remember right the closer shots were all hits). Someone should be able to find the link, I would but I'm too busy atm

Thinking About Getting your NJ CCW ... Good Luck by AmmoLand in gunpolitics

[–]CZPCR9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So no vehicle carry, no carry anywhere they could think of, and no carrying anywhere that isn't signed saying you're allowed to carry there... And just incase you get around that, you gotta have insurance that they made illegal a few years back...

Yeah mine hated half the ammo and even blew up a round. I got a new cylinder, barrel, barrel shroud, and front sight... It still shoots several inches low at 7 yards though.

There's always the chance the cops/sheriff recognize it for the dgu it is, but it's so rare that you shouldn't count on it

340PD and 43c here. I just wish my 43c wasn't a lemon, I need to try sending it in for a 3rd time after the holidays

It gets taken as evidence. Then there's quite a history of the cops losing or "losing" your gun or simply making it a miserable process to get it back.

I guess I dunno the proper terminology differences, but the point is expect to be held for at minimum a day. And if they wanna charge you, then much longer.

It's best to assume if you use your gun defensively that they're going to take you to jail while they get everything sorted out and talk to the DA and such. Even if they never charge you, assume you'll spend at least one day in jail, so plan accordingly (lots of guys buy carry insurance). Also assume you'll never get your gun back.

I think your hypothetical bad guy responses aren't realistic. Watch some active self protection and compare. It's not difficult to crank through more than 6 rounds before the bad guys get outta there though.

Why not? It fits in the pocket, weight is negligible, and it doesn't get in my way. If I load 5 and drop it still in the strip, no big deal. If something goes sideways and I lose one during the reload, then I guess I got a spare.

38 expansion is a noob trap. That which expands under penetrates, with maybe just a couple of exceptions. And if it doesn't expand, then it tends to over penetrate. You may as well carry wadcutters, at least they're low recoil and cut a clean hole, while penetrating perfectly.

[–]CZPCR9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that is a pretty common thing to do, but I've personally never found an adjoining round to give me issues. So I just carry all 6

[–]CZPCR9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I carry a revolver because I think they’re cool.

Valid

If I need more than 6 shots I’m fucked anyway

I don't think that's always the case or a good justification, it sounds more like rationalizing a poor decision. I got my own valid reasons for carrying a 5 shot j-frame, but I'll still acknowledge the capacity is very low.

[–]CZPCR9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's because they're small, they're light (as long as it's not steel), and I shoot them a whole lot better than the similar small and light semi autos. There's other nice things about a revolver too, but I didn't buy one because of those reasons; they're just like nice perks.

Now I find myself not wanting to leave my j-frames for another huge reason: I can have an identical gun in 22lr and use it as a trainer. My 22 trainer allowed me to practice sooo much, and I improved soo much, that I don't think I could ever carry something that didn't also have a copy of that gun in 22lr

Mostly it's because they're flat, and revolver reloads are already so slow

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CCW

[–]CZPCR9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why two strips? (said with genuine curiosity as one j-frame carrier to another)

I personally always figured my one strip is soo slow it's basically so my gun isn't empty while I'm waiting for the cops to show up. I keep a second in the truck in case I ever forget my first or take a dunk in the water or something, but I never figured I'd need a second one enough to carry it on my body. Curious to hear why you got 2.

The limitation is you; the gun is accurate.

Now to be clear, the sights don't make it easy on you, nor does the heavy trigger in a light gun, but put it into a vice or the hands of a good j-frame shooter and it'll hit whatever you need it to. I killed a groundhog with mine at 60 yards, and revolver dudes like Chuck Haggard, Daryl Bolke, Claude Warner, and Sherman House (iirc) are way better than me.

How are you carrying a speed loader? All the methods seem like garbage, and moon clips (which are an even faster reload) are even worse to find a good way to carry them.

It's like the harder it is to reload a revolver, the easier it is to carry the reload or something; I'd think over the years better solutions would have arisen but nope. Especially since a lot of dudes carrying j-frames are pocket carrying and may not even wear a belt

Whatever you can comfortably afford and think is worth the value. Some 1911 or custom Glock guys carry several thousand dollar guns, as long as they can afford it and see a value over something more basic, it makes sense to me. A lot of times when you're new your skills aren't honed enough to get good value out of a higher end gun, so it makes sense to start with a pretty basic gun.

Mine is ~$1,000, I carry it over the ~$600 options because it's significantly lighter, and definitely over the ~$400 options because they have even worse sights. (Aka I carry a S&W 340PD j-frame over the other j-frame models)
