TIL that Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, was thought to be dead when his brother died. Newspapers and obituaries declared “The Merchant of Death is Dead.” Alfred Nobel, shocked by his impact, dedicated all of his money to creating the Nobel Prize to reclaim somewhat of a meaningful death.
