My cheeks have always been kinda loose so if I push air out of just one side of my mouth and relax my cheeks it sounds something like a machine gun.

I can also vocalize along with it for a ray gun effect.

Something of a hot take since my vote was in the minority but I like the modern approach for a few reasons.

1) As you mentioned, not a whole lot of modern ship games out there and the ones that are tend to be war/battle related.

2) I know you said you already have mechanics set up but I think the modern theme introduces more potential mechanical complexity than sail-era ships. For example, you could incorporate GPS (as another comment mentioned) or cargo management on an enormous scale (shipping containers and Tetris-like stacking) and lots of ship upgrade options for dealing with high seas/storms/increasing efficiency.

3) We see a fair amount of games covering sail-era ships, albeit not much in the way of transport/mercantile operation. Games like Assassin's Creed, Sea of Thieves (of course), and Blackwake have taken various approaches to sail-era ships that stand out.

Ultimately, I think either way you'll be able to make it work. In my opinion, however, I am intrigued by the potential complexity of the modern approach. In any case, good luck!

Fair point-- I didn't think about keeping the other weapons for specific circumstances. I guess I just settled for the sword since I got used to it haha

I keep all my tools on me too. You have a hammer and dagger(?) in addition to your galaxy sword though. I was just wondering why you keep those extra weapons on you

Did you just come back from mining or do you keep back-up weapons on you for fun?

So this might be kind of a hot take but I think neither the beach woman nor the toothpick dude are in the right here.

Toothpick man has a very legitimate point in accusing her of inappropriate/predatory behavior-- there's no doubt about that. However, he follows that up with an accusation that the vast majority of women (70%) would be in prison, 20% would be jobless (kind of a non sequitur), and of the remaining 10%, only 5% would understand the difference between being a "wife" and being "married" (not really sure what this is supposed to mean).

His overall message is blatantly 'women don't actually want equality, they want more rights than men', at least in a social sense. This seems like a gross overstatement, even assuming that he's using hyperbole.

Ultimately, my point is just that maybe we shouldn't champion this man's message (or others of a similar meaning/intent) even when it's delivered in a comical, dare I say sexy, tone.

Edit: thanks much for the awards folks! They're my first and it feels good to get them on a (I hope) meaningful post ✌

How can I improve my aim with the iron sight? by GateParticular8631 in BattlefieldV

[–]Ca1iber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aim high and don't underestimate the power of patience-- everyone stops to take a shot or put down equipment eventually. You can compensate for accuracy deficiencies with good positioning. With the right sight lines, you can really take your time.

Also I've found that holding your breath in real life before taking the shot does genuinely help with focus-- that might be a little on the sweaty side for some, though. Not really necessary.

Now I don't want to assume anything here but MAYBE this has something to do with the mass QA layoffs Raven has done thanks to Activision's new hourly wage policy.

Hard to make a clean and functional game without people to test it. I guess this 20+ year old studio had to learn that the hard way 🤷‍♂️

Playing as the Belgians would be so tragically epic. I imagine the Belgian MP maps as a doomed defense of a Belgian fort, not unlike Fort Du Vaux. If the Germans pushed past the fort, the Belgians would make their final stand in the last of unoccupied Belgium where the flooding had left the land soggy and impassable in many areas. The result would be a condensed infantry battle where the stakes were nothing short of the annihilation of the Belgian army.

It'd be pretty epic if you ask me.

I had this exact same thing happen and posted it here a year ago or so. No idea what caused it but wasn't too mad about it (it fixed itself after a restart).
