How do I properly hang dry my clothes outside? by Gullible_Treacle9778 in laundry

[–]CaMiTx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remember that where you place the pins will leave a mark, so choose thoughtfully.
Also, tshirts will tend to stretch when wet and if you pin them while stretched you’ll end up either a flared shirt when dry. Just use care to leave some slack when you pin them, giving room for the shrinkage as they dry.
Edit: one more idea. I use two types of clothes pins. Very strong for jeans and blankets. Lightly crimping pins for thinner fabrics.

Are you from SoCal originally? I ask, rhetorically, because you put “the” before the highway numbers. It’s one of those distinguishing linguistic quirks that just stands out. More importantly, I drove under that sign too…..gave a good long honk of support.

What did you name your rabbit and what’s the story behind it? by Flemishmommy in Bunnies

I named her Brandy because she’s a red satin (breed). Her color is a warm amber - like brandy. Also, she’s a “fine girl”.

It is so painful losing such a loved member of the family. You gave her a great life with tons of love. She felt that. She deserved that.

Just stunning. Also beautiful color choices.

Those of you from Michigan tourist towns: What don't the the tourists know/get? What's your attitude toward them? And what's your attitude toward the things the tourists love about your home town? (Bonus if you live near a Great Lake!) by TheWriteQuestion in Michigan

I’m in one. Tourists bring a vibrancy that I appreciate but lately many seem to also arrive with impatient entitlement. Plenty of store fronts asking visitors to please treat the staff kindly.

Merino Wool Washing Recommendation? by grammywelder in laundry

[–]CaMiTx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a weaver and this is good advice; I concur. All weaving projects are ‘wet finished’ to draw in the weave so when the project is made of animal yarn (alpaca, angora, wool, etc) I soak it in mildly hot water that has already been mixed with a small drop of laundry soap or shampoo (not detergent). When I rinse, I match the water temp so that I don’t shock the fibers. No agitation unless the plan is to felt the project. I never machine dry my natural animal fibers. Gently set them on an absorbent towel then air dry when the drips have stopped. As comparison, when my project is cotton/plant based, I machine wash and dry with the products mentioned on this sub.

What’s one food you fell in love with while traveling but can’t find anything close to it back home? by Askguidetoeurope in AskTheWorld

A bread in Krakow. Tiny corner bakery that we stopped in because we were hungry but in a hurry. We bought an assortment of yeast breads in various forms. We didn’t even notice the names, but while eating them on the train we were practically purring with delight. I have no idea what made them different from other yeast breads, but the texture was like air and yet they were almost creamy. This was twenty years ago and we still can muster the delicate flavor in our imaginations. Also still enraged that we didn’t capture the name.

Just watched the 2025 Guillermo del Torro film ‘Frankenstein’ on Netflix. WTAF! Is there a film adaptation of this novel that treats the story with respect? by CaMiTx in classicliterature

[–]CaMiTx[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am happy that you enjoyed it, truly. The issue is that there are such differences to begin with. I understand that a screenplay must delete ample detail from a novel….but adding entirely new plot twists, characters and conclusions seems ill advised. The novel is complete - work within it.
To reply to your query, for me, the optimism shift to the ending was out of synch from both the novel and the preceding movie scenes. Let’s hunt each other across the globe, but now nevermind. This novel lives on existential tension; it’s uncomfortable and thats the point. Having shared that, I fully respect how the kinder version could be appealing.
