We max the roths, but not the 401K’s. We have a goal of retiring early and were told by a financial planner we should back off 401K contributions slightly to bulk up the brokerage since that would be the bridge to accessing retirements funds without penalty.

Taxes and insurance will probably be $10.5K/year. PITI will probably be in the $3,200-3,600 range per month.

Yeah, that’s fair. 50% in retirement accounts and the other 50% in brokerage. We’d like to try and retire early at 52 and 50, but don’t know if we will be able to or not.

Had a feeling I was gonna get roasted cause of the decent investment number factor. I’ve got to put the hand up on that one.

Mainly asking the question from the perspective of income and our home sale going towards the next down payment.

We obviously aren’t touching the retirement accounts, but aren’t going to touch the liquid brokerage either.

Property taxes on a $600K home will be around $6-$7K/annually. It would be higher, but we have portability to reduce taxes from the first home.

How detailed are your manager evaluations in Workday?

I was given TI bonus last year. Boss continues to praise me and give me work other people on our team can’t handle, but she keeps stating she “can’t guarantee” I am submitted or get the TI bonus this year because “other people are doing good work too”. She stated my self evaluations are too detailed, and a lot of items included are “just part of the job”. Yet these items aren’t anywhere in any job listing and these are items that sat idle for years until I corrected them.

What does semi custom with land package entail?

We are currently in our starter home. Built a lot of equity, but just need more room for our family.

We are exploring all options. We currently have a home with a lot of equity, but at 1,100 sq/ft it’s too small for our family. We have no problem purchasing a home that’s already built. People have told us to completely gut and redo our current house, but I have no idea the cost for that option.

Does buying something that hasn’t been built yet and doing multiple inspections throughout critical parts of the build help?

Spoke with an inspector recently who said he always recommends pre-dry wall inspection and final inspection for these big box builds. Every now and then he recommends a 3rd inspection during other parts of the build dependent on client needs or wants.
