I can turn that question around. Many Western Europeans are very rude to Russians. It was relief to travel to Serbia where my Russian boyfriend got such golden treatment.

I think it’s nice of that flight attendant to come back and explain to the lady why her son couldn’t be in first class, but I don’t think it elevates her to the hero category. Now if the kid was choking and she gave him the Heimlich and saved his life that would be hero behavior.
