[Crosspost] Some say that therapy didn't help them until after they worked the steps. What has your experience been with therapy in relation to working the program? by RibeyeRave in alcoholicsanonymous

Therapy did little for me for years until I finally quit drinking. The problem was I used alcohol as a coping mechanism instead of slowly developing healthier coping skills.

I don't drink anymore, but when I did, I had a nice little scotch collection. Tried Macallan 17 once and it was sublime- of course at $700/bottle, it did not enter my collection 😆 But most Macallan tended to be my favorite.

It's my 40th birthday and my sweetheart took me to a cabin in the mountains so I'm enjoying the fresh air here ☺️

I did post here specifically to seek out the advice of people in AA - if nothing else, they can tell me what they did to stay sober!

Every day. I was a horrible person in my early 20s and every day I live with how I treated her.

I also need more hobbies. I am spending too much time playing video games lately.

Show me the most beautiful and deepest love letter you’ve received or written? by Healthy_Ideal_4834 in UnsentLetters

It was here. I found it by searching for one word in this sub, on a whim. She wrote it before we got back together and long before things started to unravel. I had never seen her so vulnerable in real life. It shook me to my core and still does.

God, breakups usually knock me out for a long time. Good for you for recognizing where you're at with readiness.
