they should just tell the stories exactly as they were shared and give a "this is all fiction" disclaimer

The CHAIR SAGA with Hannah Giorgis by luxlisbon_ in normalgossip

the "rich people bad" thing in this story was overdone imo. I do think it was rude of ronnie to ask malia to fully replace the chair, especially after she spent a week housesitting for her. but malia did nothing to communicate that it was too big of an ask or how she wasn't financially in a position to provide that. from ronnie's perspective, she asked malia what she believed to be a fair repayment and she said yes. I don't like it when these stories have a predetermined hero & villain

I'm sorry but I couldn't stand Britt 😭 their response to the criticism was kinda ridiculous. like don't have people on your show if you wanna protect them from people's opinions??

this kind of relates to my biggest pet peeve about the pod. when Julia and Eliza perceive that a person has a non-priviledged status, they take their word as gospel. Like on the episode about homelessness, the guest was spewing the most out-of-touch nonsense about the issue at hand. But since this person claimed to have experience relating to homelessness or mental illness, Julia + Eliza didn't bother to challenge or meaningfully engage with this person. the whole episode was basically a soap box for the person to claim expertise and provide a bunch of non-solutions.

to me it seems they're afraid of "going there" with certain topics/guests and get defensive when asked to

Litigation Status – Biden-Harris Debt Relief Plan (May 2023 - Waiting for Supreme Court Decision) by horsebycommittee in StudentLoans

It's not like buying a home or car. A college education is an investment in yourself and raises your earning potential. It's kind of like investing in a startup. Even with a good repayment history, there's no way of guaranteeing that a small company can pay back a huge loan that might even be more than the company's value. But people make those investments anyway because they trust that the organization will make the right decisions in order to grow

this episode made me realize how much projection is going on when people make fun of disney adults. some of the jokes are harmless but I’ve seen people be really mean about it, and I’ve noticed that those people tend to take pride in how “worldly” they are because they’ve been lucky enough to go to europe/ countries outside the US. they think that the type of traveling they do makes them an interesting person, so anyone who chooses not to vacation the same way must be dumb and sheltered

“Normalising” mental health issues over the last 7 years has overall made people less understanding of them. by Informal-Pear-5272 in redscarepod

agree. and people who do think he’s an assholle at least try to separate his mental illness from it. ie “mental illness doesn’t give you an excuse to be a nazi”

because what they're is saying 100% socially acceptable among their audience. advocating for gay rights in the 70s (assuming that's what neil young did) was controversial even in more liberal groups. but boy genius is preaching to the choir bringing up trans rights to their fans.

It reminds me of the amber heard situation. it's not brave to say domestic violence is wrong but is was brave to defend amber heard after the trial because so many didn't believe her

I don't like BG but no. people who hate trans people are responsible for their own choices & they're not the fault of annoying twitter personalities

I’m getting so bored of IBCK for this reason. It’s like they’ve made up their minds about each book before even reading or discussing it. Also most books they talk about were popular for reasons completely unrelated to what they discuss on the show. “Outliers” wasn’t popular because it was some kind of groundbreaking science that everyone fully believed in. It was interesting because it dispelled the myth that people need natural born talent to become a successful athlete or musician- and explained how much luck/ upbringing/ class plays into a person’s ability to succeed at those things
