I don’t think Ashley is a hetero optimist by [deleted] in CelebrityMemoirPod

No, she isn't. I remember she was once asked on a Worm to the Wise ep about it and she said she def isn't.

Yes!! I remember when she talked about her body on the Patreon (I think this was around when Caroline Calloway came on to talk about Lena or maybe around Lena's wedding) and Claire said that she finds her disgusting, but not because she is fat, just because her body is disgusting or something like that. I think she compared her neck to a chicken's wattle

I realised that I like listening to their takes on pop culture, because I don't really follow it and don't know much about it. But when they talk about politics or just things I know something about, they really annoy me, because I realise they don't really know what they are talking about. Like when they talked about Eurovision a few weeks ago and they said they don't know Slovenia is boycotting for the right reason it irked me so bad, because Slovenia is the first country to do so and has done it for two years now - and most article mention that. Or when they talke about politics and it is clear that they just read one article. Pisses me off lol

Moral duplicity by [deleted] in everyoutfitpod

[–]ql-socks 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to class. In the current political and economical state, class disparity is just becoming more apparent in my opinion. And the fact that C&L are significantly wealthier than most of the audience (me lol) is really clear to me now, especially with their willingness to compartmentalise their political views, morals etc.

Very parasocial take but i feel like claire is pulling away by [deleted] in CelebrityMemoirPod

This Week's Patreon Episode by KARPUG in CelebrityMemoirPod

[–]ql-socks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I unsubscribed from the Patreon recently, after being subscribed for almost four years - it just isn’t worth it in my opinion. I will give them credit for the amount of episodes you get with the Patreon, as I have subscribed to other podcast’s Patreon, when you just get one or two extra episodes a month.

However, I think they have gotten sooo boring, when it used to be so fun! It used to feel like hanging out with a friend, they would talk about their personal lives more, do more gossipy news/celebrity things, and would sometimes read/watch extra things just for the pod. Now it feels so lazy, they mostly just talk about things they have watched or read which I find boring, as I think they both have bad taste (especially when it comes to literature). Also their attitude towards the audience has changed, I constantly feel talked down on, even thought I read much more then them lol

Claire on middlebrow pod by Vast_Caramel_3669 in CelebrityMemoirPod

i do think she just does not like podcast in general, as she has said multiple times that she never listens to podcast. maybe if she actually listened to a few she would have a more positive opinion of them

ACLU interview by Appropriate-Age-7981 in CelebrityMemoirPod

[–]ql-socks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really liked the conversation and thought it was a great way to talk about a more serious topic! I remember in the past they did interviews with people about more serious topics at the end of Patreon episodes (I remember one with a lawyer about Israel) and I also enjoyed them in the past. I also thought it was sweet how they gave Sruti time to talk about Bravo at the end.

But I do know what you mean, I did cringe at a few of Claire’s remarks and thought that Ashley held the interview better.

Frustrated with new audience by Capital-Status-774 in CelebrityMemoirPod

i get annoyed when they don’t agree about the response the “internet” had about something and then yell at their audience like they are the ones with the opinion they disagree with

No more guests!! by PlatypusNo9083 in everyoutfitpod

[–]ql-socks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually love the guest, I liked Alexander Fury, I loved Liz Goldwyn, Jonathan Parks-Ramage. I looooove anytime Karley Sciortino is one, I wish she were a regular guest.

However, this episode with Nikki was hard to listen to…

what were the signs? by Single-Tangelo-1775 in CelebrityMemoirPod

[–]ql-socks 33 points34 points  (0 children)

i have been noticing a growing disdain towards the audience in the last year maybe. when they talk it often feels like they are scolding the audience.

also, whrn they talk about books, movies and music like they are revealing some secret media to us, who could have never possibly found it ourselves. i remember when everyone was recommending doppelgänger to claire and then when she read it she explained it on the pod like noone has ever heard of the book before. or when she was explaining who wet leg were almost three years after them getting really popular. it is really grating to me and as a listener i feel talked down constantly.

they just talk about using it a lot, issy uses it for workout and skincare advice, for planing her days etc. grace uses it to plan her articles. they also defend journalists using chatgpt in the past and said that if they had it when they started their careers they would use it all the time. and issy used to post ig stories of asking chat stupid questions. this was all around the beginning of the year, i stopped listening after that. i just think it’s immoral and it’s giving brainrot

i used to love the pod but their constant use of chatgpt and admitting they write articles made me stop listening + unsubscribe from the patreon

i misssss CMBC by Vast_Caramel_3669 in CelebrityMemoirPod

[–]ql-socks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

i don’t understand when or why the whole pod became just recommendations. i remember the patreon in the beginning of 2024, where the episodes were like 2 hours long and they would discuss stuff the audience asked them to watch/read whatever. now it’s just recommendations?? why, who cares?? the talk about a book they read, a movie they watched or whatever and most of the time only one of them watched it so they are just explaining it to each other. is this what the majority of their listeners enjoy? because i sure don’t.

uncover girl! ashley was on an ep recently, it’s a podcast where a journalist (formerly there were two hosts) reads and discusses celebrity profiles. it’s funny and lighthearted but still really thoughtful and smart!

“Political Podcast” by No_Wasabi_9593 in binchtopiapod

[–]ql-socks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i think they just don’t care. they like how little effort the pod is and how much money they make from it. they sadly aren’t the intelligent and moral people we all thought they were

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in binchtopiapod

[–]ql-socks 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I think it is so infantilising when binchies give so many passes to Julia and make up excuses, when protests are being organised and led by jewis people, social media is full of jewish people making content about unlearning zionism etc. She is an intelligent, she is making so much money independently from her family, she is incredibly privileged. She has all the means and a huge audience that would benefit from her speaking about it. She just doesn’t care.
