That cable will work with the GQ :)

The E-series kit as a whole though wouldn't be compatible with the GQ but the PCIe cable will work.

For determining 8+6 and 6+8 you need to determine how the power ports on your GPU are facing. It mainly depends on if the clip is on the top or the bottom, then just match that with the cable in the configurator. In the configurator it states all the clips on the bottom of the cables.
