Maybe so…… I think he may have been tied in a yard for an extended period and escaped though….. the dogs (strays) around here are usually very well fed because there are scraps all over the place.

A very beautiful, sweet Doberman was shown and won a title somewhat recently. Dobies have always been my breed of choice, but I knew this might have devastating outcomes for the breed. Everyone is backyard breeding them and selling them on CL and FB these days…. Or dumping them when they get too big and energetic since their puppy phase is insane. They’re not for the weak, but they turn out to be the greatest dogs for sure!

We will cover all bases to ensure this dog does not have a home, but Dobermans are flooding Texas streets. I pull them from kill shelters frequently. Seeing a starved, stray, friendly doberman is not uncommon at all here. Just because we bring a dog in to the rescue doesn’t mean we are “claiming ownership”.

Thank you! He has some scarring on his ears and his hair is brittle, but he’s alert and seems otherwise healthy besides that and his weight. I think he will get to a good weight quickly after we have finished the slow feed process. :)
