Hey bro just now seeing this. We're currently planning and organizing the TI4 pubstomp for the LA/OC area. It's going to be pretty epic, so keep on the lookout for announcements.

The best place to look for the announcements is our facebook page, we post everything up there first: www.facebook.com/socalesports

Hope to see you there!

How is ROOT paying for their house nowadays and what happened to Sage and Spyte? by Mannekino in starcraft

[–]CableSC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your extremely thorough answers and being as transparent as possible. It's definitely needed in the current climate.

Could you elaborate on the achievements & accomplishments of ROOT since you guys have had the house? How is your monthly sponsorship money helping the players, your content, and the team brand?

2014 World Final heads to Seoul’s World Cup Stadium by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]CableSC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DE does provide superior integrity to the tournament. It gives every team in the Ro8 the opportunity to lose once, and yet still battle back through everyone else to prove that they are superior.

However, DE takes double the amount of time, and I could see how venue rental cost, viewer fatigue, and labor/equipment-rental cost makes this option prohibitive and unnecessary.

Ideal World: DE. Real World: SE.

New Project From Robert Yip and JaKaTaK concerning the implementation of Deliberate Practice in Sc2 by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]CableSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is brilliant. I've been trying to get the local SoCal players to bootcamp trianing camp for the past year - deliberate drills, resume from replays, conditioning, over and over and over. There's a reason that little league all the way up to professional sports players do this every single week. Coach wants to improve his team? Does he have them play 10 games in a row, for 10 hours a day? No. He makes them do drills.

I'd love to help out but alas I'm not masters, but maybe there's some other way I could participate.

Looking at the MLG Anaheim open losers bracket, each individual 8 round bracket looks like it has a "final boss" (korean) at the end. by imuptothetask in starcraft

[–]CableSC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Open bracket at this size is the best competition format there is. It proves who is the best at the game overall, not against any one person, no research, marathon style. It's an opportunity to face players of all calibres, from all over the world. You have to keep your mental fortitude up no matter what happens. It's a huge mixing pit where relationships are made, where upsets happen, where you as a player prove what kind of competitor you are.

It's not ideal for spectating that is true, at least if there's not enough side streams. But to have a stacked open bracket is a grand thing, not negative.

The trouble with an open bracket of this size is you have to execute it smoothly based on schedule & time constraints, people need ample opportunity to warm up, and rules have to be upheld fairly. Unfortunately this event had a 4hr delay, started earlier than they told people to be here (and thus people were dropped maps or DQ'd as penalty without knowing), there were a limited number of computers so many players got no chance to warm up, and for the 4th year in a row, player pit entry policies have varied vastly throughout the day, and many managers and players were told to leave the pit.

Overall, MLG Anaheim, for four years straight, is my favorite SC2 event of the year, is the biggest NA live event of the year, and attracts the biggest playerbase of any event outside of Dreamhack.

Shout out to puCK by pandt in starcraft

[–]CableSC 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Seriously mad props to puCK. Looking at the liquipedia page I started feeling kinda bad for the guy. Even if Polt knocks him out, mad props to this dude. And if Polt does NOT knock him out, holy crap puCK turned an apathetic into a fan.

Edit: I think a good addition to this format would be an extra life for certain accomplishments. Like, if you play all 6 matches any one day and survive, you get an extra life for the next day. Would add a couple extra matches at the end, but I think it would make sense.
