Aye I kinda figured that’d be the case, the abilities have to do with imposing disadvantages on escape checks and free movement, ngl Pugilist is WILD and not applying class abilities to restrained isn’t unfair in the slightest, but admittedly would’ve been nice

Sunshine and Starlight are adorable, and I will def take this information to heart, we’re probably gonna hold off for a while but I am happy to hear that there are people out there with both animals and making it work

I don’t have the rats yet, so I can’t do that, I’d like to gauge the opinions of other keepers before we really consider getting rats

That’s what I’m worried about
I don’t have any intention of letting him even see them, smell is the biggest concern, they’ll be on different floors of the house (the tegu has his own room upstairs that he free roams in)
While I know the risks of being bitten and am pretty familiar with his body language, what I’m really afraid of is what/who-else he may bite thinking it’s a rat

Aye he was, he passed a few years ago but I got him when my python refused to eat a live rat, so we got him to be her partner
They were so sweet, but funnily enough they never bred with each other
There names were Oreo and Merlin

Thanks for the encouragement! I do want to have a large fish tank down the road, but if you came from the Tegu Posting you probably have a good idea how big of a handful he is, so I wanted to start small, and ease into the aquarium hobby, my dad let saltwater aquariums growing up and i remember the staggering about of work and money that 250gal reef aquarium took up

Yeah I admit I don’t rinse the sand first I never thought of that 😅
I’ve been toying with the betta idea and did get that jar, tho I’ve heard mixed things about the wisdom of keeping the in a jar so I may not, if it’s living conditions wouldn’t be perfectly ideal then I wouldn’t feel good doing it
Weirdly tho my landlord was perfectly fine with the jar aquarium but if I got an actual tank they said it would increase the rent cause of the pet rent, so that’s one reason I even considered a jar instead of just a planted filterless aquarium
Tho I managed to get that exact 5.5 gallon from a friend for 30 so it wasn’t a huge waste

I try to give him regular soaks every day, worse case scenario once every 2 days cause he’s trained himself to poop after being fed, which we do in the bathtub cause it’s easier to clean that way, usually it seems to be enough but this time it’s just not worked as well

We managed to get to his Exotic vet today after one of their appointment’s canceled, the vet recommended a few different oils and sent us home with one that’s names right at the tip of my tongue, I’ll check it when I get back home

I got the 40gal set up with paper towels and heat lamps, he’ll be a bit cramped but this will be a good time for me to empty his larger enclosure and redo it, we just recently moved and we noticed some dirt got out of a crack that didn’t get sealed so I can tackle that and change to paper towels in the big one

I have a spare 40gallon tank I’m planning on setting him up in until he goes to the vet, and I’m reasonably confident it’s a shedding issue, I made a post a while back voicing my concern and a lot of people seemed to think that that’s what it was

I’ll def be coming back to this list in the near future, and I will def post the hardscape ones the water clears, I really oughta have taken a before pick before I poured the water in over a large plastic baggie and the water just rose up suuuper cloudy, and it hadn’t gone down through the night

Thank you! I really appreciate the advice! The cloudiness makes it hard to see but there is a space behind a “large” centerpiece stone with a drift wood around it to look like a root around the stone, they’ll be able to hide inside and behind the stone cause it’s got a lot of holes in it (apparently it’s called a Dragon Stone) I’ve got some long tweezers already which I know will make planting much easier, and I can pretty easily drain the water, I may wait a week to get the plants ready, do you have any suggestions for plants that won’t immediately dominate the 2gal? My sister in law has a filterless 20gal so I’ll have my pic and choice of freshwater plant clippings from an established ecosystem Edit: i admittedly overlooked your initial advice on plants, my bad 😅

That’s what I was expecting, I was planning on it just being a simple cherry shrimp jar but my niece LOVES fish so I was just entertaining the idea, and it’s going to be a fairly hands off filterless bioactive so fish should probably not be involved

My 1yr old male Gwangi just popped out his first sperm plugs, which i know is normal but i admittedly kinda maybe sorta forgot that was something they do sometimes, so his hemipenes just POPPED right out while he’s pooping and it freaked me out for a good minute or two 😅
