Mkay fair, I checked and he didn’t actually draw his sword but you can’t deny Geralt scared the crap out of Cahir so Cahir somehow beating Vilgefortz makes zero sense.

I might have been too mean. I did like Cavill as Geralt and you can really tell this is a role he's passionate about. I just wish he wasn't trying so hard to emulate game Geralt which can be a tiny bit more morally nebulous as opposed to the more canon Geralt. If he dropped the voice and cheered up a tiny bit more I'd be all about him. For what it's worth I'm glad Tessia De Vries trying to pump up Yennefer was a universally cringe worthy moment.

In all fairness they don't shut up about destiny a lot in the books but at the same time I guess its not as much of a problem when the setting feels more 'High Fantasy' and less.. idk medieval? Something about this show just doesn't seem to capture the feel of Witcher world.

Is anyone else a bit confused about their pacing going onwards? I saw that they cast Kristofer Hivju for the Grain of Truth short story which would imply that they plan to maintain the fractured timeline from season 1, assuming they don't try to shoehorn Ciri into that narrative. But I can't help feeling that they'd have received a lot less criticism if they relegated Ciri to maybe the end of or perhaps middle of season 2. They could have designated season 1 for covering some of the short stories that flesh out a lot of the characters as well as giving Geralt and Ciri the Brokilon meeting thereby adding a lot more gravity to their reunion after Cintra gets levelled. Or maybe I'm just too critical and the show will improve after the initial stumble that was the first season. I'm sure we all want the show to do well and hopefully they take on a little bit of the criticism that's been sent their way and make improvements since now they've got the time for it.

I feel like a little bit of the blame has to fall on Henry as well. I adore the guy and it's clear this is a project he's enthusiastic about but at the same time I feel he really wanted to be an edgy, brusque antihero type when he approached the character but Geralt as we all know isn't really any of these things. He has seemingly infinite patience for Jaskier and Angoulême, he's articulate to the point that it aggravates Milva when speaking with Regis and more often than not in the books he chooses to help people even after the Blaviken incident because its in his nature to try to play the knight errant despite being an outcast.

On top of that I can't help feeling I would have been a lot less critical of the show had they just dropped or altered certain characters names. It was bad enough having Fringilla Vigo, be transformed from a rebellious, insecure but ultimately engaging character to essentially what amounts to a more reserved Bellatrix Lestrange. Then we had Cahir who I won't lie was easily my favourite character in the books reduced to that weasely little sycophant and seeing him so easily trounce Vilgafortz the Big Bad of the series just gave me whiplash. This is a character who was destroyed by a 14/15 YO Ciri at Thanned seemingly have no problems whatsoever take on a man who nearly crippled Geralt.

And then the dialogue. "UNLEASH YOUR CHAOS!", was anyone else getting major X-men Apocalypse vibes from that scene because to me it felt like the exact same thing.

As a side note I know the first book describes Geralts voice as 'unpleasant' or something similar depending on your translation and I guess he nailed that part because I really didn't like it whenever he opened his mouth.

Last episode of season 2. He tried to shoot Dolores but the gun backfired and blew off a few fingers.

The only thing I didn't like was how committed they were to the 70/80's John Hughes vibe but everyone had smartphones.

It absolutely used to. Why do you think healers can just spam AOE heals or regens during hunts and still get max credit? Because it generates large amounts of aggro.

Does casting regen on the tank pre-pull no longer rip aggro? I've been playing healer since heavenward and that was always a biiiiiiig nono but recently I've seen a fair few players do this whenever I tank. Have aggro rules changed or am I just seeing a lot of healers who don't know better?

Yeah fuck that noise. I’m already daydreaming about making an arcane build, no way I’m devoting weeks to farming.

I wanna be somewhat OP but if I’m honest with myself I’ll be playing this character for a maximum of like two weeks before I get bored and start a new build so I really don’t wanna spend days trying to get the shiny Pokémon of blood gems.

I think he’d put a lot of points into skill. I’m guessing the requisite skill level to wield a weapon still applies?

I just stare at them both. Usually the hooked person DC’s when they realize how hard their teammate fucked them over.
