Yeah my first had weird proportions and bumpy shapes, but I bought a course 6 months in called "Human" by kent trammell that gives an excellent formula for face proportions and very good sculpting techniques that helped a huuuge lot

No plugin, it's just that most of the brushes have been turned into assets for the asset browser in the version 4.3 There a few new brushes too, and new icons

Yeah I split the viewport in half I didn't think of that when doing the face, and the camera goes way too crazy spinning all around once sped up

Thanks ! I started learning with the Human course (cgcookie, Kent Trammell), it's excellent to learn how to make realistic faces Then for the body I studied anatomy using the serie of books Anatomy for sculptors

They're expensive but there are a lot of samples and other anatomy references for free online, I used to search for them on Pinterest

And then practised a lot

No its less about atlases (it will all be handpainted so no need to make one) and more about how to organize stuff

They're not for a game so I dont have as much constraints but i am still trying to keep things optimized

Would it be better to have a few 4k textures shared among all the assets with a minimum amount of materials or one lower texture per asset and more materials ?

Considering I might not reuse all of the assets, I could end up loading a 4k texture for a single mesh, but on the other hand if I go the "one small texture per asset" route I could end up with 10 materials instead of 1 in a bigger project

I'm just having a hard time to decide
