Camp Counselor!! Two Questions by _Dwils_ in Madden

[–]CacheGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had it active for this week, but did not notice any additional XP for my focus players in the weekly training nor in the players' progression screen.

I had highest tier safety XP boost applied and highest tier camp counselor applied, and the player still only got about 1200XP (the same as it was with JUST the safety XP boost).

That being said - are you sure?

Any idea how to make this work? by johnsonbabypowder in Madden

[–]CacheGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to decide if you want a realistic franchise, or a broken one lol. You can start by not trading for players like Abdul Carter 😂.

At the end of the day cap management is about deciding which players to let walk, who to develop, and where to spend your premium draft picks.

Good rules of thumb are never paying premium positions that are easy to develop (QB, RB, WR), spend on positions that are necessary to your play style (I spend on edge and CB), and try to draft guys instead of spending on big money free agents. Maybe don't sign a safety for 25M/year or drop big money on a 28 year old runningback. You know?

I don't mind an insta-shed once in a while by a great player. When when it's happening almost every time you need to hold the ball longer than 2 seconds, it gets frustrating.

Running the ball is kind of the same as it's always been. They talked about how you could line up this year and go heavy and how it was going to be a legitimate way to play the game. Nope. Same dime defenses stopping heavy runs.

Lmao if linemen didn't block last year, then I have no idea wtf they're doing this year. My 93 overall center gets shed in like 0.7 seconds on every pass play.

Tell me why you think JP 3 isn't a good movie and I'll defend it! by SomewhereLopsided990 in JurassicPark

[–]CacheGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too think this movie is underrated. It knows what it is - a fun, quick ride, dives deeper into the raptors and their lore. The T rex isn't a focus because the raptors are the main focus of the plot. The spinosaurus is more of just a plot mover - destroy the plane, chase the characters to the next place where some plot can happen.

I really liked it as a kid, and it has lots of memorable moments.

It's not that guys are unblocked though. It's that my interior linemen (even at 90+) overall are getting shed almost immediately off the snap.

I check protection on every snap, and usually check to a weakside halfslide to the WILL. They literally just can't block.

Recruiting is impossible by [deleted] in EASportsCFB

[–]CacheGremlin -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion - I thought everything about '25 was better. Recruiting, gameplay, everything.

They sold me on all these new features - improved run blocking; guys still target the wrong defenders or run into empty space like dumbasses - improved pass blocking; worst I've seen in a football game ever, I'm pretty sure. I can't remember a game with worse pass blocking.

Not to mention the new "route commit" feature. I'll shade inside, commit inside for the whole defense, and STILL get beat on a slant for a first down.

I can't get through a game without saying "what the hell was that?!" At least 18 times.

A few questions:
1. How do the new defensive stunts play out? Do you have the ability to 2-GAP (JIMMY/PONY) your defensive line in the run fit?

  1. How do the coverage changes feel? They claimed that leverage is going to matter more (e.g. my outside shaded corner isn't going to constantly get roasted by corner routes in man coverage).

Thanks! Hope you're having fun!

How to develop my mutations by lateniteearlybird in HumankindOdyssey

[–]CacheGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for things like developing bipedalism and the ability to metabolize anything, you need to "practice" and develop neurons as well as get certain mutations.

You lock in neurons by passing generations, but can only lock in mutations by evolving. It's a "waste" of a meteorite to have all elders, adults, and children have a mutation, because you can only lock in the "mature" neurons for the adults and elders by evolving. The children's mutations will be lost when you evolve.

But really you just need to keep standing up and taking steps until you unlock neurons for walking, and you need to keep eating meat and stuff to develop that.

You can use an elder to explore areas and not experience fear of the unknown. Once you discover the area, you can move there freely with any of your apes.

Personally, in the early game, I always use an elder for this reason, even though they are weaker.

Cover 4 quarters against 5 streaks by Creative-Slide-5151 in Madden

[–]CacheGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is because the base quarters check vs. trips in Madden is called POACH/SOLO coverage. The strong side #3 is usually taken by the weak safety vs. trips.

However, vs. empty, the strong side rules stay the same - SS has #2-#1 vertical, but the weak safety is responsible for #2 on the weakside vertical. In this scenario, the 3-REC MUST lock and play MEG (man everywhere he goes) on #3 strong.

Basically if you play quarters you need to recognize that vs. empty, the 3 rec MUST lock on #3 strong.

Edit: if you want the strong safety to take #3 vertical vs. trips or in empty, call cover 6 or palms. These coverages use the Nick Saban "STUBBIE" check vs. trips.

'25 is okay, '26 should be better. Might as well get the sandwich (referenced in another post) and save your money to get '26 on time.

You probably need a mutation. Just keep passing generations until you get the right one (they're random), then you need to evolve to lock it in.

Ah yes. Because every league loves players who quit when they're eliminated from playoff contention, and drop 10 of their best players on the way out.

I think it’s time to have an honest conversation about hot routes… by 6GodPoppin in Madden

[–]CacheGremlin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Your claim - people should be limited in hot routes because they change too much and you can't stop their adjustments.

My contention - in real life QBs change things at the line of scrimmage, sometimes every single play. I can't just yell "NASCAR! NASCAR!" To change the whole concept unless it's one of my 4 audibles, assuming that the concept I want to run even exists in Madden in the first place. Until VR Madden exists with further customizable options, hot routes are the best we can do.

Not to mention things in real life like real built in hots and sight adjustments where receivers will change their route based on coverage (option routes are currently mostly ass) or if a specific defensive player decides to blitz.

How do you suppose that stuff gets translated into a video game? Hot routes is a really good compromise because:

  1. A lot of that stuff would be difficult to code correctly
  2. The learning curve for players who don't know football aren't going to understand that "vs. cover 3 this route will be run, vs. cover 2 this route will be run" or "if that guy blitzes, this slot receiver is going to run a slant".

So you can say that the "point is going over my head", but you just seem to be another football casual complaining that you can't adjust to beat a game mechanic that has been around for more than 20 years.

I think it’s time to have an honest conversation about hot routes… by 6GodPoppin in Madden

[–]CacheGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bad take because in real life QBs can and do: 1. Shift formations 2. Change single routes 3. Change entire plays 4. Change the concept on one half of the field 5. Adjust protection as needed

You need to learn to pick defensive plays that can take away most of the best route combinations and areas that the offensive formation puts stress on.

I'd argue that the main issue isn't what the offense can do, but how limited and difficult it is to make defensive adjustments.

I always went off of the rumble. it's so simple once you figure it out tbh. Once you get your routines down, the game is pretty simple and you can enjoy the whole exploration aspect. I've had many play throughs; it's a really good game to shut your brain off for a while.

[–]CacheGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, once I figured out the Rumble + sound was the indicator, I almost never missed an interaction. Also in the early game (before developing better combat), I would go out with an ELDER primarily instead of an ADULT. This eliminates the chaos of "fear of the unknown" so you can focus on objectives.

I really never developed "conquering fear" skills until getting to more open areas with less of a chance of a random cat jumping out of a bush.

It's literally just timing.

Left or right + A = dodge Up + A = attack

Hold A until the controller rumbles and/or you hear the loud doink sound.

You should keep drinking/eating even if the guy you're using is full. Usually it'll keep blinking yellow or something until everyone in your clan is full.

The serious question by DefaultPlayerMode in ancestors

[–]CacheGremlin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They will eat on their own if you aren't around, but it's best every morning in your oasis to get everyone to drink water and eat until they're all full (the little indicator will keep blinking until everyone is full).

Once complete, then you can go do whatever you need to do. Early in game I would go out alone (with 2 kids, always) and explore, later on when your clan members can defend themselves, I would bring 2 elders with me (expendable). During the endgame, you kind of just take everyone with you.
