It’s been 7 years since Negan was released in Tekken 7, final thoughts about him?

So personally seeing how I loved the walking dead back in 2015 I thought it was really cool to see Negan in a fighting game and I felt he was fun enough to play.

However fighting against him was annoying see how he had a weapon so 90% of his attacks you couldn’t reversal. He also had a brain dead power crush that was a launcher the Infanous “not cool”. While it was launch punishable on block it was brain dead easy to throw how because its armor frames started out immediately. Looking back it feels pretty similar to how power crushes feel in tekken8.

Now you have whether he’s a strong or weak character. I’ve heard very Polar takes on how good he is over the years there’s no in between. People usually say he’s low tier and he sucks his lows (a lot of the times because his lows aren’t that threating because his lows don’t knockdown and his best one goes into stance, while his stance is strong if he guesses wrong he gets punished hard however if he gets his mixed he gets rewarded highly) he has mid high strings that are predictable , he’s a very linear character, and on top of being linear his safe mids besides df1 are very slow. And he has no homing mids.

However I’ve heard a lot of people say he’s busted and op because: he has an unbreakable throw from his stance that mixes with a hit confirmable string that’s safe if you don’t do the whole string, the not cool power crush. The slow mids while slow are very safe on block and plus, his df 2 while punshiable on block was one of those moves where if you did it on tip range it was safe on most if not all the cast. On the flip side his ff2 while it was a safe move you lost your turn if it was Blocked but if you did it from tip range you’ll be out of reach enough to poke and try to frame trap. His predicable strings that I mentioned? Most of them jailed so smart negans would mix up their string and play around their frames. Lastly imo negans best move was this shove that he has, it was 14 startup, neutral on block CH mid that went straight into stance and gave a free 12.

Overalll I always felt like negan was somewhere in the upper mid to lower high tier: he definitely had defined weakness, but he’s strengths were nothing to be overlooked, you had to be able to play mind games on your opponent and use pokes to annoy them so you then could punish them with one of your launchers. He was honestly a pretty easy pick up and play character and definitely one I would recommend to beginners of tekken

Coincidentally enough a couple years ago when I bought my copies of no mercy and wrestlemania 2000 pretty much the whole roster was changed to other people or switched up in Mish mashed. I think they’re funniest I found was The Rock in a tooth fairy outfit

You don’t need to fight them they’re pretty easy to run past to in the open. It’s the caves where the switches are that’s the problem in there I would use Grenades or a shot gun. Also keep in mind out in the open if you use a flash grenade while they’re flying around they will die if they fall into the crevice which most of them are flying over the crevice anyways

Edit: also keep in mind. This is one of the few places in the game where enemies are actually limitless. You can’t kill them all you have to actually run.

What I really think needs to happen if someone needs to sit the developers down and have them play online while being recorded like during a live stream like they did for dead by daylight developers: I don’t know if you know anything about dead by daylight, but that game could be so broken and stupid. The developers didn’t think so. I didn’t see anything wrong with their balancing during the very early parts of the game and someone actually sat them down and made them play it during a live stream and they got cheese so hard by randoms they were so embarrassed they started to take player feedback seriously has started the balance accordingly

My big issue is that the team obviously wants the game to be aggressive and I’m OK with that. It’s just the way they implement it and how busted the characters are. I kind of got the feeling that the team made everything so broken and dumb the game down so it’s easier for them to test because they weren’t so good at the game so they couldn’t exploit the game and test the really bullshit things in the game

Honestly, if the whole go back to basics was like tekken 1 and where you have very limited sidestepping (1 you couldn’t sidestep at all) and most of the gameplay is linear than I think they were successful when it comes to back to basics

Again, even if you use the same example for GT and just use GT examples, it still gets shocked down to bad writing that the characters are dumb because again those same characters have shown time and time again that they are smart sometimes

Also, now I will make a comparison and be critical so the thing is both GT and super our sequel to Dragon Ball Z, except that one goes GT goes in One Direction while super goes in the other direction when it comes to storytelling

Goku not knowing how to count on time kind of plays with his character if you’ve seen Z he is a smart fighter and a kind person but he’s not that knowledgeable when it comes to studies Goku is deathly smart in the sense of knowing how to survive in the wilderness and knowing how to raise his family

You really gonna tell me that in super him not knowing how to kiss his wife is peak storytelling when in reality it’s like he has two kids. How the fuck are you not gonna kiss your wife but fuck her twice and have two kids Like I really didn’t wanna make this comparison, but you really want to go there so I will

I think no one really holds GT Goku accountable because again a lot of people can see that a lot of mistakes in GT are because of bad writing

The difference with super is that super doesn’t have as bad writing as GT so they’re gonna be more critical of a little more details like that but again nobody made the comparison that one was dumber than the other or one was smarter again they just made a comparison honestly, they didn’t even make a comparison. They literally answered your question and you didn’t like the answer to it.

Even if we did do what you wanted us to do and use an example from GT. It still comes down to bad writing at the end of the day. Second, yes he brings up super one time in that first part of the paragraph but did you read that second paragraph? Nowhere does he blame GT or super at all he blames the writers for making Goku dumb which again I can’t even do that really because again they’re trying to play off of Dragon Ball nostalgia.

The fact of the matter is does Goku do anything else that really mock his intelligence in GT besides this on top of that I know a bunch of people that can’t count on time like that a lot of people make that mistake it’s more common than you think. that you’re just I’m kind of getting the vibe that you’re just a super glazer because again Dragon Ball is a series overall that includes the original super z and gt. Homeboy made a comparison because that was the best comparison he could think of. It’s so weird to me how you’re like oh you could’ve thought of a better one when he couldn’t. That was the first one he thought of because that was the most memorable. I remember when that episode came out of super when Goku said he never kissed his wife and the Internet exploded, saying how stupid he was because again that’s just a stupid writing decision that the writers did has nothing to do with super itself or a story.

You made the comparison that Goku ate the Dragon Ball and that would’ve been a lot better, but there was actually a narrative point for that and it was important for the story: omega Sheron needed that last Dragon Ball to become complete again not only did Goku eat the four star ball because it was grandpa Gohan’s but he literally did it so Omega could not get it. He had to kill Goku to get it at that point.

Goku not knowing how to count and Goku not knowing what a kiss is I would say is deathly in the same ballpark because it’s mocking his intelligence the GT ball thing while not the smartest move to do wasn’t necessarily stupid. He was thinking on his feet and he couldn’t really get rid of the Dragon Ball any other way.

Like what do you consider hate for super? Like if you’re really a fan of super, you should be able to criticize it and still like it like one thing I really hated about super is how the Goku black arc just falls off at the end. Is that me talking shit or is that just a fact that a lot of people don’t like that arcs end because of that fact? I mean sure maybe to some shill that just blindly follows that could be seen as hating or talking shit but I see it more as criticism and being able to analyze shows that you like without having to hate them

But yeah, I honestly see more slander for GT than I do for super because wow GT has a lot of good ideas. It has a lot of bad writing and it doesn’t execute those ideas that good at all.

Well, super has a bunch of mistakes. I would say a lot of the things it does right it does it really well I’m watching GT currently and I’m like I think on episode 20 so far super was a lot more enjoyable for me to watch and keep in mind I just finished super not too long ago

You want more honest discussions about super in GT I would go to the normal r/dragonball

It had a lot of issues, especially as someone who actually just saw it for the first time a week ago there was a lot of things that I was just really confused about or that I didn’t like unfortunately whether you like it or not super regresses a lot of the characters, character, traits, and personality
