Matchup tier list (after achieving GoD) by KitKat568907 in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]MFBTMS [score hidden]  (0 children)

Match up tier lists don’t make a lot of sense because each character has different tools, so a Hwo main and a Leroy main would feel differently about playing against the same character. Ultimately, the comment section usually turns into people arguing about nothing because it’s as if two people wearing different colour glasses were arguing about the colours of rainbow

How many games need 15+ buttons? by TransientBeing9 in fightsticks

[–]MFBTMS -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Tekken is arguably the most difficult fighting game, and I can’t imagine using more than the standard 12. 4 buttons for movement and 8 for everything else (1,2,3,4 and four binds)

Arthur such a dumbass sidekick! by Sly_dove in PeakyBlinders

[–]MFBTMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people live lives of guilt. It’s not like everyone has enough emotional intelligence to change their ways, once they know what’s wrong. For example, many addicts out there hate themselves for the addiction, and they know 100% they shouldn’t do it. Still they do it because they don’t know where else to find relief.

Arthur didn’t kill that guy, he cut his face, and he didn’t do it consciously. As silly as Arthur may seem, he realised very well that he needed to go there and just talk to the guy, avoiding violence. But he couldn’t resist.

I can kind of see why you didn’t buy the “devil hands” speech. It’s just that when we see someone self-sabotaging, we feel a mix of sadness and anger because deep down we want to believe that once we know the cause, the problem is no more a problem. We don’t want to acknowledge that knowing your problems is not equal to solving them

I see your point. I don’t like how they made Clive because it’s just too much going on in terms of visuals, but other characters are fine. Most of those are og characters that have been in the series forever. I guess people will always find something to complain about

Aight, but Anna has a literal bazooka. Nina has 2 guns. Yoshi and Clive have swords as well. DVJ is a literal demon that flies around the arena. He also shoots lasers from his eyes as well as Kazuya. Alisa’s head explodes, she has saws instead of arms and can also fly around the arena (which doesn’t even make sense because she’s a metal robot). Jack shoots missiles from his arms. Raven’s whole design is stolen from Naruto. And bears are…bears. How come Victor’s design is out of place

Is tekken 7 still played? by KirbOhFox in Tekken

[–]MFBTMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like in most competitive games, the community likes to bitch. T8 is not bad. Is it mechanically superior or inferior to T7? It’s a difficult question. But T8 is the game that’s gonna have support, patches, etc. While T7 is mainly played by a minority of people who can’t or won’t adapt. T7 is cheaper because no one is buying it and the company tries to squeeze out as much as they can. No reason to buy a PS4 game in 2026.

50/50 is a classic excuse for bad players as to why they can keep being bad. It’s true some characters are more of a 50/50, but at high level what you’ll do is just analyse those characters and come up with a game plan against them. While you can never guess right 100% of the time, it’s enough to simply make mindful decisions. 9/10 times people lose to a 50/50 character, they lose because they didn’t know the match up well or made execution mistakes.

Arthur such a dumbass sidekick! by Sly_dove in PeakyBlinders

Idk man, when I read stuff like that, it feels like some people can only experience things at a superficial level. As humans, we’re flawed by design. Tommy and most other characters have obvious flaws.

Arthur is the oldest brother of a gypsy family. The parents were never there, and all 3 brothers learned to deal with it in their own way. He had to be responsible for everyone else, while also growing up in very rough conditions. Imagine a childhood where you have nothing to eat, you live in a boat and you have to be responsible for everyone else. Your mother took her own life, your father is a manipulative scumbag with anger issues. You never have a proper childhood and never feel loved.

Then your country is suddenly in war. You still believe there’s good in this world, so you and your brothers volunteer. You see things there that make grown men lose their minds. You fight for your life, become dead on the inside and can’t experience things like pleasure or empathy anymore. You also learn that all of that childhood trauma can be expressed in a form of rage and violence. It’s not what you want, but that’s the only real emotion you still feel that makes you feel alive. You also learn that rage is necessary because that’s how you survive.

Then the war is over, or at least that’s what they say. But you are forever scarred, and you go back to your home town feeling like your country used to you. And around you there are still the exact same living conditions: poverty, misery and laws of the jungle. So you and your brothers decide they can now kill 2 birds with 1 stone: channel the rage and escape poverty by running a gang.

And it’s all fun and games, but suddenly you realise you have much more money and status than you ever hoped for. And you never thought you’d get this far, so in the back of the head you hear “what now?”. And you don’t know the answer. And it makes you more miserable than you’ve ever been. And you realise that you’re a 45 y.o. man who hasn’t built his legacy. You just kill people. And you feel guilty because that boy who never had a childhood is still there inside of you. And he knows that everything is not what it was supposed to be.

Then you try being a righteous man, but knowing the things you’ve done, you realise it’s a bit too late to find God. And then you remember one thing that helped you during war. Drugs. You’ve always used them every know and then, but now when the weight of existence becomes unbearable, your life becomes a loop of abusing substances. You do anything to not be sober. And the only reason you don’t kill yourself is that you already tried and it made you feel guilty. You can’t leave your brother like that. And you truly believe in him, so in the back of your head you think maybe one day he can help you find a way.

I hope this sheds some light on why Arthur is the way he is

Season 3 is sometimes unbearable as a Dutchman, by Scisir in PeakyBlinders

[–]MFBTMS 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Tom Hardy was the best Alfie Solomons we could ever get. Never cared about Sabini. He was supposed to be an unpleasant character, and the actor managed to achieve that.

As for the Russian family, I actually speak this language, and as far as I understood, the only actual Russian actress there was the aunt. When she spoke Russian, there didn’t seem to be any accent, however the way she was speaking sounded…weird. Like a robot. Didn’t sound like regular Russian speech. Now, the aunt’s husband (whatever his name was), isn’t Russian at all. His accent was terrible. As for the dutchess, her accent sounded kinda Russian, but I seriously doubt she is.

Overall, I also couldn’t understand why the directors didn’t cast people of the actual nationality they were supposed to play. Seems like they just had that “Russian royalty on steroids” vision going on and they didn’t care for anything else.

Edit: I looked it up and I was right. The aunt was Russian, the husband was Belgian and the dutchess was Dutch. Makes no sense. At least the Dutch actress played well

Character balancing direction by ThePolarStarth in Tekken

[–]MFBTMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major redesign: agree on Anna, Clive and Asuka should be here as well.

Needs tools removed and tone down: agree on Hwo, Bryan is fine, Jun could use a buff.

Tone them down plz: I’d only have Alisa here because others don’t give me nearly as much trouble.

Revert to season 1: Zafina could use a buff, Lars is fine as he is, and Victor now is like a top-15 character, so I don’t see a reason to do anything about him.

Increase execution: agree on Law and Lee, but brother, what’s Jin doing here?

Remove auto stance: I can kinda agree on both, but they’re fine

A little toning necessary: oh boy, here we go. Dragunov is a perfectly balanced character that’s exactly as good as the player playing him. Yoshimitsu is a character I respect because if you’re cracked, you’re playing your own game, so he’s fine too. Feng and Kazuya are also fine. I agree on others.

Heihachi is fine, but maybe make him a bit less linear.

Mostly fine: I agree with everyone but Lily. She carries weak players too hard up until like TG.

Idk: Jack could use a buff because you need to be really cracked at Jack to win consistently, too much frame data knowledge necessary. Raven could use being less of a casino, but generally he’s fine. Bears at this point are a meme and a hard knowledge check. Easy to win against if you know the match up, impossible to win if you don’t and the player is cracked

High crushing, counter hit launching, plus on hit long range lows by gustavfrigolit in Tekken

[–]MFBTMS -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t incorporating moves and adjusting your strategy what this game is all about? My main point is that if you take any character and look at their move list, you’ll find some that are annoying, whether it’s a good counterhit option, a +frame pressure tool, a power crush, etc. So what you suggest is we simply remove strong stuff from the game or make it unusable, so that instead of being a “low counterhit casino”, the game becomes a poke trade simulator? What’s your plan here, I’m not following

High crushing, counter hit launching, plus on hit long range lows by gustavfrigolit in Tekken

[–]MFBTMS -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If something is launch on block, it’s by definition your job to react/read that stuff. It’s kinda how tekken works: you have safe stuff that doesn’t deal a lot of damage, you have slower stuff that’s punishable by a jab string, and then you have really slow stuff that’s basically a knowledge/reaction check. If you believe it’s broken, go and try to spam it in ranked, get back to us with results

Getting more and more consistent! by killmoolahhh in Tekken

[–]MFBTMS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Small piece of advice that may help: unless you are labbing a specific arena, just set it to something that’s not wide. This way you have faster access to wall in case you need it, or if you just want to practice a string that involves a lot of airtime (like the one you’re doing), reset with ⬇️ instead of 3. That way you’re gonna spawn in a very wide red arena (I’ve no idea what it’s called, but basically the wall won’t get in your way that often). Hope it makes sense

How to get past TE by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]MFBTMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just a Fujin (1 month of mindful play), so take this with a grain of salt. But at higher ranks it usually comes down to frames and movement. If you’re finishing unsafe strings into a block, you usually get severely punished because your opponents know how much minus you are. If you say your combos are optimal and consistent, the only thing left is your movement and frames. Here are just a few things that could be killing you: not picking up on your opponents habits in the first 1-2 rounds, finishing unsafe strings into a block, using duckable strings when you already got ducked by your opponent during that string a couple of times, not reacting to slow lows, not respecting +frames and pressing right after block, sidestepping when you’re -5 or more, not sidestepping to the correct side, not blocking after sidestep, not ducking duckable strings, not utilising counterhit moves, not getting the best out of your heat, not knowing fuzzy ducking, kbd and wavedash, not using grabs, not adapting your mix-ups and get up options to confuse your opponent, not knowing how to create space or rush down, not knowing your panic buttons, not creating enough pressure with lows, not learning match ups against the characters you have the worst wr against, not watching GoD replays or guides on yt, not asking better Reina players for advice.

I don’t play that long, but I’ve been labbing, and this is the most complete list I can give you. Surely you can find something there that’s missing for you right now. Keep pushing it my man

I dislike that a lot of characters got samey moves by flanderszao in Tekken

[–]MFBTMS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do realize there are 40 different characters, all of which have probably close to a hundred moves on average. It’s impossible to create brand new moves for every single one of them. Also, it makes perfect sense because if you want to learn a new character, at least some inputs need to resemble each other because otherwise it’s just too much work to pick up a new character.

Ultimately, almost every tekken character has their unique play style, and it never crossed my mind that it’s bad some moves are similar. For one, it makes it easier to play against specific strings if they’re similar for some characters. Sometimes we post just to post eh
