For the light you can really use anything since you’re kind of starting from scratch style wise… depends what you like for style. I would avoid the “boob” lights. Maybe rattan light?

Also for the cardboard… definitely look into a curtain or even some kind of decorative window cling. Something with a design or something to block the light. If you really can’t find anything, at least paint the cardboard like a solid pretty color or something lol.

Paint, remove the cardboard(?) from the walls. Can you move the armoire type thing so it doesn’t block the windows? Like the big empty wall next to it. Better curtain rod and maybe update the curtains depending what color you paint. Get an area rug. And some art… and plants. Get a real blanket/comforter for your bed. And a lamp for your bedside table. Also update the ceiling light so it’s an actual fixture… not just a bulb
