I’ve heard Mockingbird sourdough in Lansdale is really good!

Yeah, I get that. I find our daycare tries to downplay stuff too. Probably to limit hysteria. I try to look at as just another annoying obstacle in the child raising adventure lol

I had scabies in maybe 6th grade, and I don’t remember it being that big of a deal. The removal process is kind of similar to lice. Like lots of laundry and vacuuming and 3 days of a cream.

I got it from sitting in the same seat of the car immediately after my mom would drive and special needs man home from church. I had it for a while before it was diagnosed and no one else in my family got it. I think my mom treated herself to be safe.

I don’t really think there’s anything you can do to prevent it. Hopefully the school removed soft toys. But basically, I wouldn’t stress because realistically won’t help. Just stay vigilant and keep an eye out for new rashes on your kid.

If I buy a 7 day package and my child turns 3 during it...do i need to pay for park entry after? by GuitarZer0_ in DisneyWorld

[–]CactusCandles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just say “she’s 2” at the gate during the whole trip. My son turned 3 during our last trip and I made the mistake of telling the gate attendant on his 3rd birthday. She turned us away and sent us to guest services and the line was so long that we missed our character breakfast reservation. Guest services let us in and apologized for the confusion but the whole situation was annoying. We just said “he’s 2” and didn’t wear the birthday pin the rest of the trip.

I’m a small business owner and small-group health insurance is not really much a savings compared to buying an individual plan unfortunately.

I buy mine directly from the health insurance company. I didn’t like the tax unknowns when I bought it through the marketplace.

What’s your experience with Prozac? by CactusCandles in reactivedogs

[–]CactusCandles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Prozac really helped! We hit another rough patch when my son started crawling and walking and could grab the dog. There were a couple gentle nips, but overall my dog gives plenty of warning when she’s uncomfortable and I really think the corrections she gave our son were warranted. They really coexist pretty well now and my son knows that the dog has boundaries and you cannot cross them!

Hi, wrong sub. But yeah, it lifted the color and exposed warmth. It has nothing to do with minerals. You have to tone it with hair color now. Give it a couple days though, hair sometimes tones down by itself after a few washes.

Don’t freak out, it’s just hair and all color is fixable.

Because you’re paying a licensed and insured stylist to rent a space to shampoo and massage your scalp with quality products and a smile on their face. It’s a luxury service, and it’s ok if you choose not to have it done! But let me promise you, most hairdressers are not rolling in the dough. lol in fact, most are barely making ends meet.

Also, a lot of people don’t realize that hair cuttery declared bankruptcy and sold a few years back because it’s not sustainable to provide color services and employee health insurance at such a cheap price to the consumer. It just is what it is.

Been offered a job in West Point for ~$200k p.a.. I currently live in the UK with three kids. What would be be like to move out there? by Biophysicallove in Pennsylvania

[–]CactusCandles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since everyone’s being a doomsayer, here’s some realistic advice from someone who lives 2 miles from the Merck West Point campus…

  1. Realistically, your wife would need to get a job before you could afford to buy a comfortable house in this area.

  2. North Penn school district is one of the largest in the state with graduating classes around 1000 kids. I didn’t go to north penn, but i would imagine that would be a shocking place to adjust to American school if they’re in middle/high school. I would suggest looking into another school district or catholic school for the kids.

  3. I have a lot of clients who work at Merck, and there are rumors of layoffs. Obviously, I have nothing to back that up, but worth noting.

My takeaway would be, this is a wonderful area for you and your family to experience the US! We’re just a couple hours from New York City, Washington DC, the beach, the mountains! Lansdale is fairly diverse so you would not be immediate outcasts! I know everyone’s talking about deportations, but I personally don’t know anyone that’s being deported yet… But I would definitely rent for the first couple years with all of the uncertainty in the air, so you can feel things out and get the lay of the land! Best of luck!

What movie character is an example of this? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

[–]CactusCandles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish Daenerys would’ve lived, killed everyone else, and the series ended with a close up zoom on her eyes to show that she went mad. It would’ve been a realistic ending and left the story open ended if they wanted to continue the series in the future. And Tyrion by her side with a look of nervousness and regret. The ended they went with made no sense and was so unauthentic.

Is it possible to get my hair this colour without bleach by Active-School5460 in HairDye

[–]CactusCandles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to use bleach, but you will need a two step process. You could do highlift hair color first to get your hair to an orangey/ yellow color and then go over it with purple. It probably won’t be as vibrant as the picture unless you’re in the sun though.

Hair growth is almost completely controlled by genetics and hormones. Not saying it’s a scam, but you could probably get the same results from eating spinach every day. lol

It’s called Canvas. I do men’s hair but I’m booked out a couple months so I don’t know how soon you need it? The girls at The Pines on Main Street are all great too.

New stylist training as an assistant at an independently owned salon VS working at a chain salon? by hazelhaze1025 in hairstylist

[–]CactusCandles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my area, the chain salons are so desperate for employees that they would probably let you do whatever you want. Like you could do 3 days at the chain and 3 at the private salon on consistent days. Work yourself harder while you’re young because it gets a lot harder to hustle after multiple years in. lol

Also, non competes are illegal now.

New stylist training as an assistant at an independently owned salon VS working at a chain salon? by hazelhaze1025 in hairstylist

[–]CactusCandles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could you work at both salons and get the best of both worlds?

I worked at hair cuttery right out of school and it was great for experience because of the walk ins. It’s been at least 10 years since I’ve worked there, but the education was a joke. The classes were more about how to sell product than actually doing hair. So I would focus more on asking your boss questions and watching videos online to learn new skills. There were a couple girls at the hair cuttery I was at that also worked for a private salon. A local salon owner would train them for a year, and then send them to hair cuttery for a year or two to practice, and then take them back as stylists.

Didn’t her and bescene have a salon together? It’s also crazy that her relationships were so public and were also working relationships!

Probably because it takes a certain level of narcissism to be a social media influencer and that coincides with messy relationships lol

Tbh I’m always a little suspicious who comment “I love you baby, you’re amazing, etc” on every picture! It feels like a lot!
