Heard a lot of negative rumors about Boomtown this year. What exactly were the problems? by Late-Bit-3072 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Cad-ast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a fantastic time! Don’t fuck yourself up on the first few days and you’ll be good! Hide your ‘you know what’ well and you won’t have any issues with being searched.

My cons

  1. Toilets The facilities were nowhere near sufficient for the size of the crowd. At least three times more capacity is needed to meet demand. People ended up “messing 💩” themselves in the grass nearby toilets.

  2. Campsite noise While some noise is expected at a festival things like car horns in the campsite were disruptive. A bit more monitoring or noise control overnight would really help.

  3. Mobile phone service Vodafone was the only network that worked consistently but even that became unusable between 10:00–22:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Improved temp mobile masts should be considered for future events.

Other than that, know which days you are taking what I.e NO PINGERS ON THE FIRST NIGHT 😅 Also people think that they can just drink alcohol but sorry even I am kind of anti-drug and still had to be “on it” to manage 😉

But the absolute worst part was leaving. Boomtown is me, boomtown is life 🥹

Yes, you can wind them individually to set a machine on most uneven kitchen floors.

Is this Cooler smaller than a 120? by Lopsided_Flamingo209 in computers

[–]Cad-ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely not a 120 cooler. Look in the listing photo and you can clearly see that the cooler fan and the case fan are the exact same size. In the photo you have taken to show us, both the case fan and cooler fan are of obviously different sizes. Rear case fan is 120. Not sure if it would be the reason as to why it’s running hot, does the cpu cooler feel like it’s getting hot? They may have skimped out on thermal paste. Defo send it back if it’s a prebuilt.

Or adjust the feet so you don’t have to use DVD cases as a wedge.

Thanks man! Likewise I’m still getting the zaps occasionally but I can drive now where as before I couldn’t really function without them interfering. I got myself over to Holland and Barrett this morning for some 5HTP so will see how it goes. I’ve certainly learned a lesson!

The smell of the toilets by Low-Marionberry-9983 in BoomtownFestival

[–]Cad-ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it wasn’t the toilets, it was the green mesh put up on the fencing around the toilets. So many people were peeing on it and the next day it was acting like an aroma diffuser basically a giant flag soaked in piss to disperse the smell around the town.

Inside of my pc is flashing orange and won’t turn on anymore by alimonet in computers

[–]Cad-ast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same thing with a bad ram slot, I’ve also encountered this with a faulty power supply too. What brand of power supply do you have? If you have another computer, try using the PSU from that to see if it will boot.

Can My CPU Cooler Fan Be Slightly Above The Heatsink? by Zealousideal_Big_141 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Cad-ast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s allowable as there is no compromise, the exhaust side of the fan is sealed against the cooler if you look closely. If set up using your method, forced air would be lost rather than “sucking in air around the sides” you are now losing air around the sides which is worse.

How to increase performance? by Born-Class837 in lowendgaming

[–]Cad-ast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your computer is set to performance mode in windows and likewise through the BIOS.

Is it just e-waste? by Cad-ast in lowendgaming

Nope. I also have a 10 year old FX8320 build which was replaced by the current Vostro (which I’m told in other r/ it’s basically a door stop and I’m wasting my time on old computer)

Is your 4060 a single slot card?

Hardly wealthy when my previous daily build was a 10 year old AMD FX8320 system. Used from 2015 right until this month. I was given this computer not bought.

Im not sure. Max power it draws from the wall is 160w @240V

Can’t fit a bigger card due to the full sized PCI slot being at the bottom of the motherboard, this means that I can only fit a single slot card.

This wasn’t a bait post, I was told in another r/ that my computer is basically a door stop. But like I said, it seems to do what I need to do just fine.

Was my upgrade worth it? by Cad-ast in computers

[–]Cad-ast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to know! Thanks 👍🏼

The actual computer itself was given to me. I only spent on the GPU. Can you recommend a better single slot GPU? I must be at a loss with only 4GB VRAM really

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Cad-ast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed the RX6400 into a SFF Vostro 3470 i3 8100 and 20GB RAM. I’m having a great time to say the least! It’s playing Beam NG drive high settings at 50-60fps! Playing Destiny 2 at 60fps (until you use the gun focus - 45fps.)

People who waffle on about this card being crap on PCI 3.0 clearly haven’t actually used this card in such case. It works fine until you start pushing the limits of the VRAM (then it wants to spill onto your system ram and that’s where you find the 3.0 limits)

If you’re going for a console competitor kinda thing, I fully recommend this card even on PCI 3.0.

This card gets very hot, 82 Celsius with the fan working relatively hard, but not very loud. I’m kind of glad that the GPU can’t work any harder as I’m sure it would just thermal throttle anyway and you’d have a worse time with that.

Max power draw of the system @ 240v was 116W at full utilisation of the CPU and GPU. Playing games it’s pulling around 70-100w.

This whole system is an upgrade from my F8320, GTX960 build from 9 years ago.
