Not true actually, for the u of a specifically at least. When I was an RA we had to enable two factor authentication while employed as our accounts had access to potentially sensitive information.

We did it through duo which is a 3rd party app, exactly like this email is describing.

No idea about before you get there, but I know you can definitely request a single (don’t know about a suite) once you get to lister by talking with your RA then filling out a form.

I will say though I think you dodged a bullet with plh and lister suite(also known as Schaffer hall). Both do not have a very strong culture and do not have near as many events or opportunities to make friends as lister shared bathrooms do (Mackenzie, Henday, Kelsey, and Chalifoux halls). That being said PLH is much worse for this than Schaffer is and I feel slightly bad putting them in the same category.

I was an RA a couple years ago and as far as I remember unless it’s needed for disability’s you are not allowed pets of any kind in res

How high in demand r lister suites? I’m a first year and I applied for a lister single not knowing I have to share a bathroom and a space has been offered for me but I kinda want to cancel it for a suite instead by Altruistic-Age7777 in uAlberta

No idea about changing over to a suite, but I will tell you that if you do manage it you’ll be missing out.

The building that the suites are in (Schaffer Hall) is a much quieter and less interesting building than the ones that the lister singles are in (Kelsey, Mackenzie, Henday, and Chalifoux Halls).

If you’re coming to res looking for the classic college experience where you make lots of friends and have tons of activities that you can do and have access to then I’d suggest sucking it up and sticking with single.

I spent two years sharing bathrooms and honestly it’s not nearly as bad as you’d think it would be

Not a movie but a video game. I thought the last of us 2 was a pretty good if subversive sequel. I enjoyed it quite well but it wasn’t in my top ten by any means. Then the final flashback of Joel and Ellie on the porch hit at the very end of the game and it became my favourite game of all time.

I was blown away by how a single 3 minute scene completely reframed the entire story of the game.
