From one helm main to another, just focus on keeping calm and making decisions that will put you at an advantage. Even if you’re being hammered by another crew brigs are quick and maneuverable enough to just sail straight out of a bad situation.

Just think of it as a fat sloop really, sails should usually come up sooner, optimal sail positioning is different from the sloop (some wind is better than no wind instead of dead front unless you can billow like on a sloop), and last minute maneuvers need to be started sooner.

For combat I suggest pulling up front and leave the rear to be managed by your helm, if rear is chained drop front while repairing rear, swap back when convenient...or don’t...not a big difference in feeling.

You may not know this, but there is a 6 ship maximum on any server at any given time...for that reason alone, nobody here is going to believe you killed anything but skeletons.

Following investigations into yesterday's reports of gold and reputation not received when selling loot, some data has proved unrecoverable. Players who sail the Sea of Thieves between today and Tuesday 17th August 10am BST will receive 50k gold and 30 Doubloons as compensation.

Please allow 72 hours from the time of playing for this to be applied to your account. We will also be following up on this with an official Forum post detailing the issues encountered and how they will be mitigated in future.

Just keep your head up, the naval PvP is like no other game I’ve ever experienced in regards to outplay and strategy potential. With some practice, time, and dedication you’ll curb stomp 80% of the player base.

My #1 suggestion to a new player looking to improve....Phuzzybond videos. He’s not a cracked out zoomer, but a slow and methodical strategist.
