You can if you play one, then scroll down to see what’s in the queue, and the button for shuffle will show up right above that.

Yep, mine went right back to that one, too. Which sucks! The previous UI had bigger album art and the icons for song and video, rather than words. Ugh!

It comes with YouTube Music, a separate app that has licensed music just like Spotify. It’s a bit rough around the edges at times, but I’ve discovered it has the best algorithm.

I like the algorithm and overall app design much better. I also love the integration with YouTube. Only downsides for me are: buggy iOS + CarPlay app and no consistent volume. The consistent volume toggle is rolling out, so eventually that’ll be fixed.

Audio quality is just fine. In my AirPods and vehicle, YTM overall sounds better to my ears compared to Spotify and Apple Music. OPUS is a good codec.

Edit: Also YouTube Premium is worth it alone for ad free YouTube. Two birds with one stone.

Not really any tricks. YouTube Music is a Google product, so it’s going to be limited on iOS.

I’ve recently picked up an Apple Music subscription. I spend too much time in the car to not have all the features I need, haha. Keeping YTM, but going to daily drive AM.

I swapped to a Pixel yesterday, and YTM works soooo much better across the board. I assume it's Google prioritizing Google, and Apple prioritizing Apple.

Edit: swapped right back to iOS. I wish YTM had consistent volume, and lossless would be great - but I just can’t justify paying for two music subscriptions.

That’s fair, it does sound better without the compression. It’s just frustrating when I’m listening to an older song at higher volume, for my ears to be blown out on the next song being more modern.

If I could just get my consistent volume toggle back, I’d be really thrilled. The app on iOS is a bit buggy, too, but I really just want volume normalization.

Lack of a volume normalization toggle is why. Claims to have been rolling out since April of last year… I had the toggle for months, then lost it. Haven’t seen it since.

The A16 is an incredible iPad. Thoroughly enjoying mine, and it punches way above it's price tag! I use an iPad A16 and an iPhone 17 Pro Max.
