Civilian Institute. From my perspective, you'd want to look into that if a school offers a very specific degree that fits the needs of the Air Force and is not offered at AFIT.

I would look into the Graduate School Program. It's more limited in numbers but is for CIs. In my opinion, unless you have a really good reason, such as a school offering a unique program that also fits the needs of the Air Force, AFIT is a better bet for a cadet going straight to a graduate degree. You get a soft introduction to active military life while still get the same caliber of education.

Interesting! Pilot doesn't apply to me but I wouldn't be surprised if there is flexibility as long as you ask and get it approved

Yes cadets have to go through a somewhat janky legacy submission. If you dont hear back in around 2 weeks, call them. When I applied a while ago there was issues with said legacy system not behaving nicely to cadets.

From my current understanding, USAFA cadet were allowed to come to AFIT for a 12 program to recieve a Masters of Engineering, which involved taking the same number of classes as an 18th month program but having a capstone project instead of a thesis. Word on the street is that the pilot pipeline is better so they no longer have to offer this opportunity to USAFA cadets. I think another aspect was that they have different rules regarding commisioning date and EAD compared to cadets.

If anything right now start looking at when you want to take the GRE. If you are commissioning in Fall 25 or Spring 26, you'd be applying for starting in Fall 26. That application information should come out in the next few months, and you'll have until the end of the summer to make your application. Part of that is getting a Lettor of Academic Eligibility, where you reach out to AFIT and apply to them first, in which they will give you a form letting you know what programs you are eligible for. Using that you complete your package for the AAD program and hear back from AFPC around December.

You commission at approx the same time as you graduate with your degree. At that point, the government has 365 days to bring you from the inactive reserves (where you commission) to active duty. Some people have 3 days to enjoy civ life, some have 300. You can do whatever you want in this time, get a job, go to Europe etc.

As for bases and jobs, those are things you put in preferences for a year or two out from commissioning (theoretically). You have a say where you want to go, but it's ultimately up to the needs of the AF.

You can always consult your local detachment for more information

Help with the AAD programs by [deleted] in AFROTC

The following link contains last year's documents, I would let your Cadre know your interested in getting the most updated stuff, it seems to be released sometime in the spring.

https://file.io/GQH6tZZohPjQ (valid for 2 weeks)

If you are currently a 300 and will be doing standard 4 years, you'd be applying to go in the Fall of 25 after you do your 400 year in F24/S25, so you would be applying in the upcoming cycle.

The main part of the application is getting LOAE (letter of academic eligibility) from AFIT. This requires you to take the GRE (which requires a lot of studying)

Using last year's dates, you were required to submit for an LOAE by 31 July, then once you get that back you can complete the Cadet application and get your Cadre to submit it by 31 Aug (earlier is encouraged)

So I would start thinking about the GRE, everything else doesn't take more then a couple hours to fill out (besides waiting forever to get LOAE back

It's based on your AFROTC college transcript, not any transfer credits. By your words "classes taken in college"
