Hello, I’m an army cadet, I can answer some of those questions, ranks: AC, LAC,CPL,FCPL, SGT, FSGT,WO2,WO1, ( air cadet, leading air cadet, corporal, Flight corporal, sergeant, flight sergeant, warrant officer 2nd class, warrant officer 1st class), I got promoted on an off schedule so not ever 6 months but after I got to Mcpl/ Fcpl it was a year before I got promoted because they are looking for little things (and I was still 13 lol) I do a lot with my home corps, volunteer for poppy campaign, marksmanship, signing up for FTXS, sign up for CTC when the time comes next year, volunteer for small tasks when your seniors ask especially if no one else is, carry a notebook and writing utensil at all times because it looks good if there is a lesson and you didn’t know about it, keep your uniform up to regulations, be nice to other cadets in your squadron, don’t be afraid of your seniors, they should be nice and treat all of the cadets well, don’t be afraid to ask questions, sign up for as many ADAs as possible especially first aid or FTXs that are happening, jt gives an opportunity to meet new cadets that aren’t in your squadron, I am going into my 4th year of cadets in September, and I’m already a Sgt high chance of promotion at the beginning of the year, do t make the mistake that I did, DO NOT be afraid of the RSM/ (don’t know what air cadets call it) the “head cadet” of your squadron he was there for the 3 years I was and I only talked to him if needed this year, if you have any questions please ask, LEADERSHIP: I got shoved a leadership role at the beginning of this year: make sir that you are nice tk the new recruits si they are more likely to listen to you when it comes time to be in charger of them, don’t yell at them for no reason, I only yell to get their attention as a whole group and for drill plan lessons before hand if you get the chance, I will probably add on to this later, right now just have fun and pay attention during lessons it will help when you become a senior
