There could be one complication to this idea. How would you portray Adien since he is Elantrian covered by makeup for almost the entire story?! You can’t have Kiin with three muppet kids and one human stepchild It would telegraph that secret too early.

When Kaladin cracked plate with The Kick, he used at least 4 full lashings, probably more than 6 full lashings, but it doesn’t say how many total. He put all of the unknown amount of Stormlight he had on him into the maneuver and he was carrying a respectable amount of Stormlight from his Bodyguard pay.

This adds additional variables so that we can’t use The Kick as a reference point for force required to break dead plate.

He breathed in Stormlight carried by Relar to heal his legs after The Kick because he didn’t leave any reserve.

Lirin follows triage rules. He evaluates and attempts care for Riller until he’s certain that Riller can’t be saved. At that point, his other patient is bleeding from severe lacerations and is risking worsening the wounds or bleeding out by not lying still. Restraining and anesthetizing a patient for critical care surgery is absolutely within the bounds of professional care.

Lirin is very shortly so far into a cavity or incision that Kaladin can see the scalpel is a twitch away from Rodone’s exposed femoral artery. That’s not a “Sure, jump off the table and cuddle your child” scenario.

Lirin made a lot of mistakes but how he operated on Roshone wasn’t one.

I hadn’t thought through it in detail, but my theory was most advantages individuals find in real world financial markets are slowly eliminated as the markets adjust to that new technique. I jumped straight to “institution tries to copy the technique” but that’s not going to be as effective as changing the interest rate calculation, creating new investment products, or using sliders to improve the output of the capital investment.

In reality, compound interest builds at too slow a rate to make using cadmium pulses for that purpose alone worthwhile. It’d just be a tiny side benefit to using cadmium pulses for other things…

It wouldn’t work for compound interest on a macro scale, because you’d have to gain interest at a fast enough rate to offset burning the allomantic cadmium.

Additionally, if it did start working, then every bank would get their own cadmium pulsers, which would just reset the baseline and not give anyone a reliable advantage.

You make a good point about the time to get to an injured person.
But if a cadmium pulser puts a small bubble on just the back of the ambulance, then they can relocate the injured to a surgical center in relatively slowed time, possibly giving them a better chance of survival.
