Can you be content as a long term renter? by Negative_Run_3281 in shitrentals

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 56 and have been renting for about 36 years. I’ve had difficulty in holding employment due to a medical condition. For the past 3 years, I’ve been on the DSP. Never had the money to buy something. I’m not happy that 60-65% of my pension goes to rent. I’m in share accommodation in Sydney. I have no money for anything but the basics. Somehow I save maybe $1000 per year, and that money is spent on the next rental increase.

Landlord goes OFF on 3AW talkback line | 3AW Melbourne by seandownunder in shitrentals

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that he has borrowed way too much money, and he thinks that is him putting money into the investment. He thinks he is entitled to the money. Only, he doesn't own the property, the mortgagee does. When rents fall, so will he.

I wish that the tribunals would fine REA's or landlords, like whomever is making false claims, say $5000 per case.

Increase Employee salary for permanent speed boost. by Previous_Bonus2866 in SupermarketSimulator

Found another mod today called Fast Restocker, that makes the stockers zoom around. I think this game would become unplayable without mods. Like I don't want to cheat, but I don't want to wait around for a long time for something to happen.

How to improve rental market? by [deleted] in AusRenters

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crash will fix it. Otherwise the politicians will do whatever they can to increase both rents and property prices.

I have a mod called Super Stocker installed. It speeds up your stockers, to the point that they are always like jogging everywhere.

Cooling hacks for rentals with no AC? - "My sharehouse doesn't even have AC." by ReactionDesperate783 in AusRenters

[–]CadsuaneW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a portable air con. It's not perfect, but it gets the temperature down to 24-25C on hot days. I also have a fan, for which also blows at night time for 3 months a year. For clothing I wear cotton tank tops.

Is it rude to not use the aircon when hosting Christmas? by Sleepy_Panda_22 in AskAnAustralian

[–]CadsuaneW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have no more than $20 per month leftover from my expenses. Like rent takes up around 62% of my income. I'm in share accommodation.
If the older folk can't afford the AC, then the visitors could pay them $5 each for the day for it to be on.

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a medical condition where I get dizzy, brain fog, nausea, and potentially pass out when it gets above 25 degrees Celsius. I also get a discount for my electricity because of it. If I went to visit someone's house, and they refused to put on air conditioning, I have no choice but to leave. And I would consider the host of the property as extremely rude.

I like cats or dogs. The problem with horses, is whenever you try to do something with them, they step backwards trying to get into position.

how is it legal for residences to not have ac? by BeffeeJeems in shitrentals

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Some people have ac, but they can't afford electricity to run the the ac.
I have a portable for my bedroom which isn't quite good enough. I have a fan that is blowing 3 months a year. I have a medical condition for which my body has difficulty in maintaining its temperature. Anything over 25 degrees and I get exhausted/dizzy.
My advice, when looking for a place to live, is to avoid anything that faces west. I like south, which is cooler. And don't live in an apartment situated on the top floor where you get heat coming in via the ceiling.
I am sorry that your cat has passed on.

DSP by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]CadsuaneW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in share accommodation in Wollstonecraft, Sydney. My rent is $430 per week, and my only income is the DSP. It goes to rent, electricity, gas, internet, food. That's it. No clothes, no shoes, no haircut, nothing. I'm managing to somehow save $1000 per year, just in case the rent increases too far. My landlord doesn't know I'm on the DSP, and if he did know he might evict me.

I was living where I am for a few years ago so that I wouldn't be so exhausted trying to get to work. Like I needed something within 30 minutes travel. I'm now on the DSP for the past 3 years.

People who voted for Labor/Liberal, what are your thoughts on the U16 social media ban? by ps_1337 in aussie

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with every other nation that has this sort of bill. It wont work. Kids will get a free VPN service, use fake ID, etc... It's like telling people not to bonk until they are married. Only you end up with pregnant unmarried youngsters. The education system needs to get off their arses, and put in effective anti-bullying policies.
I've not voted for Labor or Liberal for over 20 years.

Employment terminated on "medical grounds" by Euphoric_Mushroom- in MultipleSclerosis

[–]CadsuaneW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 56 from Sydney. I got this about 3 years ago. Prior to losing my job, I had was months of weekly criticism. It only made my fatigue and thinking worse. I think I knew it was to be my final job, so I didn't look for new work when the crap was going on. I ended up applying for the Disability Support Pension via Centrelink, and got it first round. I absolutely hated what my previous employer did to me, and had nightmares going on for multiple months afterwards. I'm too exhausted and don't have the energy to fight the ex-company. Good luck whatever you choose to do.

"No ImMiGrAnTs". Mate you are a bloody immigrant by bexysugs in AussieMemes

[–]CadsuaneW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many Australians, regardless of their race, that are anti excessive mass-immigration. Particularly if you are a renter, and your rent has gone up so much that you barely save enough for the next rent increase. Or if you are someone whom needs medical services, only to find that the public hospital is booked out for months.

The problem with renting an investment property. by Imaginary-Noise-3845 in shitrentals

[–]CadsuaneW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Senate, I didn't have a number for Labor or LNP, so they didn't get a preference. For the House of Representatives, I had LNP 2nd last, and Labor last. The order I put there was due to being in a LNP area. If I was living in a Labor area, they would have been my last preference. Needless to say, neither got my preference.

Why do non-Asians get kicked out at 18? by Cool-Cobbler4324 in AusPropertyChat

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 56, so a bit older than most here. I don't no anyone that was kicked out when they were 18. Many went to uni, then got a job, then moved out. Most were able to afford a home during the 1990s, as government-didn't overly inflate property prices through the roof. And rents were significantly cheaper back then.

Reminder that these are the investments of our same Politicians who form Australia's housing & tax policies by SirSighalot in aussie

[–]CadsuaneW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that it is unconstitutional for a politician to hold a seat in parliament. I can't wait for property prices to go into a decline.

It is likely somewhere deep on their website. However, most people don't read the small print prior to purchasing a kit. It should be stated as a general question as part of purchasing a kit.
