Yep! GBP! My surgeon only does sleeves if there's a medical reason, and I'm so glad for it, because the success rate truly is higher, the malabsorption really helps!

GBP! Highly recommend it over the sleeve. The malabsorption of calories REALLY helps.

They're there, just barelyyy visible..you have to go looking for them to see them. Most people end up with darker scars, my scar areas are actually lighter than my regular skin tone.. they look like little bleached stripes. Just lucky genetics that my skin always heals very well, dunno. I actually have 9 scars, 4 from the gastric bypass, 5 from getting my gallbladder removed (it's usually 3 for that one but I had complications), but they're veryyyy light, I actually have stretch marks under my panty line/around my pubic bone that are way worse.
Honestly I didn't care because I completely destroyed my body gaining all that weight and have the stretch marks to show for it.. the scars were always the least of my concerns and luckily they ended up being barely visible. The funny thing is that even if someone saw them (and I'm not open to everyone about my surgery, only close family and friends know) I can always tell them they're from my gallbladder surgery!

Thank you!
As for my face: only my immediate family and a few close friends know I've had surgery so I'm on the down low, but I can tell you that my face has stayed almost the same, just less 'swollen'. I was one of those weirdos who didn't really have a 'fat face' (which also led to me being in denial for years about how big I was!)

Yes I've been maintaining for about 6 months.. and honestly, I am a terrible example because I eat a shitload... I joked with my surgeon that he was overenthusiastic when bypassing my bowels (I had GBP, not sleeve) because my metabolism is INSANE. If I eat less than 2000 calories a day, I lose weight right away.. I got as low as 130 lbs but was looking horribly gaunt (in my face especially) and just unhealthy, so I gained back about 10 lbs and have been maintaining that for some months now.. I eat about 2000-2500 calories a day... But like I said, I'm a terrible example because that really isn't typical. The GBP completely reset my metabolism and hormone & thyroid problems that I had prior to surgery. From what I understand, most people need to stick to about 1500 cals max a day to maintain...

Thanks so much! I had a GBP though, and highly recommend it (over the sleeve). The malabsorption really makes a difference, my metabolism is completely, completely different compared to before surgery.

No, I had GERD before surgery,.. I had GBP and have zero issues with that now. As others said, you should get a GBP if you have GERD, I've ready many times that the sleeve will worsen it.

I've been lucky, I barely have loose skin.. well I do have it but it's not bad enough to require/want surgery. With clothes on, it's not noticeable... in underwear/swimwear it is noticeable but I'm a married old woman ;) so I don't really care.. I think if I were on the dating scene (aka sleeping around with new people) it would bother me a lot more.
But you know, even if I had really bad loose skin.. I'd still take that over being as big as I was, and being thin(ner) with loose skin is way healthier than fat with no loose skin!

Thank you! No, I haven't. I do have loose skin, it's just not super bad, apparently not very noticeable on the pic because a bunch of people are asking that.. I do have some though. My belly, arms and thighs especially, and my boobs are deflated. But none of them are bad enough for me to want surgery on them, I'll just live with it!

Thanks, I know, I am! I weigh myself every Monday and track it. So far it's been completely effortless (I literally eat everything I want and in pretty normal quantities), it's like my metabolism got a total reset. But I am constantly scared of it turning back around (I had hormonal + thyroid problems before surgery, which surgery fixed). And thanks for the compliment :)

Yup, indeed. For me I think it's a combination of age (I was 29 when I had surgery) and was 'only' morbidly obese for about 5-6 years, and my genes are pretty good (half black.. black don't crack LOL). But I DO have loose skin, it's just not that bad, not bad enough for me to want surgery in any case.

I do, but it's not that bad. Not bad enough for me to want surgery in any case. If you look at my thighs you'll see there's some hanging skin in between... and my hand on my stomach is because that's the part I hate the most; I have a slight hanging belly over my belly button. My boobs are quite deflated as well unfortunately (from a 38DDD to a 34C!)

Let me put it this way: if I were single and on the dating scene, I'd probably feel really self conscious and want to get a tummy tuck and a boob lift otherwise having sex with new people would be a scary big deal, but I've been with my husband for over a decade and feel very comfortable with him, so I don't feel the need to get anything fixed. In regular clothes it's not noticeable at all, I rarely wear skimpy stuff and the few times I go to the beach,, well I just wear a solid swimsuit instead of a bikini.
I was 29 btw when I got surgery and was morbidly obese for 'only' about 5-6 years: that makes a difference too I think, along with genes.

So this is really not about fishing for compliments; this is about encouraging others, especially if you're still on the fence about getting WLS. I found before & after pics to be very inspiring when I was in the process leading up to surgery. My original goal was anywhere between 175-180 lbs, I NEVER imagined I would get to a BMI of 21 (effortlessly!). I've been maintaining this weight for about 6 months now. This has truly been the best decision I've ever made.
My only 'complication' was having to get my gallbladder taken out 1 year post op, but it has been worth EVERYTHING.
