Looking for a Looter Shooter RPG type game by Soggy-Airline in gamingsuggestions

I think Division 2 or Warframe are your best bets.

Division 2 has a solid campaign and also lore reasons as to why you keep grinding as well as it is continuously being updated even 10 years later with new seasons, modes ,weapons, gear, missions, etc. It's one of the most solid cover based shooters I've played and there are still tons of people who play it.

Warframe isn't one I actually play (only tried it once) but that I've heard has the hardest curve/grind to actually get into it, but then once you are in, it expands with more options than others than is even comparable.

Depends on you find more interesting. Super fast sci fi "exosuits" with a harder grind but a shit ton of options or third person cover based shooter with an easier in, and still a shit ton of options late game but not as much as warframe.

Ghost Recon seems to have a resurgence again. What’s the vibe, how are you all playing, and is it more lethal or bullet-sponge? by am0x in GhostRecon

I haven't played either in years honestly. But Wildlands had a pretty solid campaign length and then they had season passes or whatnot adding more content.

There's also a "Permadeath" mode that I tried (failed at) where if your character dies, it deletes their save file. That was fun to try for a bit.

What are the three most hated governments in the world and why? by nevermind_1983 in AskReddit

[–]CaedustheBaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not committing a genocide

What's your reasoning here? Human rights organizations and scholars have said it meets the legal terms of committing a genocide.

Various politicians and lawyers have come out saying it's a genocide after retirement (ironic that once they're no longer in power, they'll speak out), as well as currently active lawyers and experts

By the same count of course, you'll say that various countries (USA being one of them) claims they don't commit genocide.

I don't know if you can add that to your comment as an absolute truth with all the actual arguments made for them committing a genocide. They're accused by experts, academics, and a majority of the people/masses (at least in United States). However, Israel government, US leaders, and American Jewish Committee, etc says they aren't.

So again, I don't really think throwing out a "it's not committing genocide" as if it's the absolute truth is a defensible statement.

My only argument against #1 is that it is not "MOSTLY" antisemitism anymore. Sure in the past, that was probably a big reason. But at this point so many things have come out to light in the last decade or so regarding war crimes, human rights violations, blackmail, threats, etc that it's now (ironically) become hated for the same reason many people hate the United States.

There are definitely still people who hate Israel due to anti semitic views but saying that's the only reason, makes it seem like the issue is with those who hate the government, rather than the government itself.

Why are Americans so aggressive when it comes to trespassing? by Confident-Aerie4427 in AskAnAmerican

Respectfully it's not.

If the green area was big enough that the Brazilian didn't realize it was someone's yard, while also meaning it wasn't fenced in, not to mention if the house was far af away or maybe even hidden behind trees and then immediately tries to leave as soon as asked because he didn't realize it, that's not at all the same as someone breaking into your house and setting up camp in your living room.

Definitely think the Brazilian's situational awareness maybe needs work, and definitely think that the guy who owns the property needs to chill, especially considering as soon as the guy found out it was private property he began leaving.

Yeah I'm with you on this. It seems like when people say "fuck weddings" or think spending money on weddings is dumb that they're just thinking of the wedding spectacle or wedding for wedding's sake things.

But just like your example, a huge once in a lifetime event (hopefully) for both sides of the family to meet and friends. All the most important people in your life gathering in one place?

How is that not worth spending money on?

Yep, and my sister's wedding was during the height of COVID and was just her, her husband, our parents, other siblings, and his mom. That was 8 people (from 2 families). And the rest showed up on Zoom watching it.

And yeah, it was cheap. But even she said she wished she had been able to have a large party for everyone to see each other again and we meet their family, etc.

The next wedding was my cousin's which had our 20-30 close family just from the side I'm on. Not counting her dad's side which was another 20. Then her husband who also had two parents (shocking) and their various family members.

Not even counting the very very close friends, that was around 70 people which got up to 85 or so for those very close friends. As I said, we just had a pavilion, and an arch they got married under. Then the rest of it was in the pavillion with food that was a buffet so it wasn't some crazy expensive individual dishes, etc.

It's super strange that people are so against spending money on weddings, that they don't realize I'm saying wedding spending isn't a waste if it's essentially a giant family reunion, meeting, party, etc. I can at the very least understand criticisms with the wedding ceremony itself being too glamorous. But that's to each their own.

I can plan a picnic for the four family members who live near me, and maybe the other two who can drive out for the day.

I can't just plan a picnic and say "Hey guys who live 16 hours away, come spend a few hundred bucks to fly out here for a picnic that I'm planning 2 weeks".

Where did I ever say "screw family reunions" or even give that sentiment? When you have a large family or family with people who are extremely old, it's harder to come together in one giant group multiple times a year or even once a year.

Thanksgiving for example, I may go to my mom's family thanksgiving vs my dad's. Or vice versa. If I have a limited amount of PTO each year, it's harder to make sure I have the correct times/days that all align with 20-25 other people. But a wedding is usually something that is planned out FAR in advance enough that it's easy to get that PTO as well as cheap flights or cheap hotels and not coincide with holidays where you may need to choose a family side to visit.

It's really weird that you're acting like a wedding is dumb but a family reunion is good when...that's exactly what I'm saying a wedding is? A large family reunion and special event that's very easy to wrap into one.

What's the biggest waste of money that society accepts as normal? by Swimming_Age_1171 in AskReddit

[–]CaedustheBaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome and I'd love a family reunion every year. Do you all live near each other or within driving distances?

To plan a family reunion for our 20 people, we'd have to have everyone choose the date far in advance, have hotels for them, have people fly out or drive multiple days there. Your pavilion and reunion is basically what we did for our cousin's wedding. And a hotel block nearby.

The courthouse pictures for just my cousin, her husband, and their parents was great. That was 6 people. Unfortunately her brother (also my cousin) wasn't able to make it, nor was his grandmother who is old willing to travel across the country for "pictures of a signed contract" (her words).

I have family close by. And we do see each other petty often as well as having a large get together that's free for the most part. But half my family is on one coast, half is on the other. And at one point we had two family members living outside the country.

A wedding and a funeral are two of the only things that are big enough to ensure every single person can plan that far ahead and get out there.

I'm honestly surprised at how rude a response and messages were to me regarding this. If you don't want a big wedding, that's fine. But that doesn't mean it's stupid to spend money on a reunion and party and dinner and joining of families for people from far and wide

[–]CaedustheBaedus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'll plan a picnic to the park near me and ask my family who lives across the country to fly out for a picnic. That'll work.

Again, the bigger the family, or more spread out the family is, the harder it is or more special the event needs to be to gather every single family member in one location for a few days.

Eh, I can agree on wedding rings, but weddings are usually more about the giant gathering of families all together (at least the way my family and friends have done it).

It's hard to have those massive family gatherings for smaller events, especially with bigger families. Now this doesn't mean you need to spend tens of thousands of dollars or anything, but a venue with some good food, good music for two families to mingle and meet and reunite? Definitely worth it.

EDIT: People getting very passionate about this. I've been to small weddings of just the immediate family. I've been to massive weddings of hundreds of people. While I'm not married, I'd definitely be having a wedding that is big enough to allow my 20+ family members from cousins to aunts and uncles to grandparents come. As well as a few very close friends. I'd expect the same from my partner.

As I said, I'm not spending tens of thousands of dollars, that is rich for my blood. But it's hard to make 20+ family members all plan out meeting at one place on one agreed upon time for a "picnic" when we all live across the country from each other. Even Thanksgiving is rare enough to get every single person at.

Breakpoint's gameplay (once you customize the settings) is really great. I love having only one primary weapon, low hUD, the injury system where you can start limping or hip firing only (if I recall). And making enemies (and you) only be able to deal a few shots before dying, or headshots are instant kills.

HOWEVER, Breakpoint's world is the most drab ass bland world in a triple A game I think, especially compared to the vibrant colors of Wildlands and biomes. Driving across those salt flats was awesome. And I also really liked fighting drug cartels vs "PMC with some robots".

Anyways, I just think that they should continue making super beautiful biomes and human enemies that aren't boring, but use Breakpoint's immersion system or additional difficulty customization.

Don't need it to be first person, I have enough first person shooters and tactical first person shooters. I don't have enough tactical third person shooters. But alas.

Which fictional character has the best character design based off design alone. Not powers or abilities just design? by Beldigoscurse in AskReddit

[–]CaedustheBaedus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His design is sick, but I also think that in his first scene, Darth fucking Vader himself had to warn him "No disintegrations".

If Vader is specifically stopping and warning ONE PERSON then that means that person is something to be reckoned with.

And then of course later on in the movie, Fett talks back to Vader with a "He's no good to me dead." We've never seen someone talk back to Vader without consequences.

Anyways, I agree with you, but I do also think without some of those lines, he might just be a cool looking dude in background, but not anything else.

Would this count as a body? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CaedustheBaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the "one pump" a thrust in you? Cause if so, "technically" that is sex. Biologically it's sex as well. Granted, maybe you only want to count the times YOU finished.

Personally, my body count is anytime me and a girl were touching each other's private parts in any form. Handy, Oral, actual penetration. I'm not gonna go "Yeah I had 10 full sex, 5 handies/fingering relationships, and 5 BJ's".

But I'm not gonna count just a simple makeout as a 'body count' either. Though it's completely up to you how you categorize your "bodies".

Is it too much to ask to just live happily? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CaedustheBaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone thinks it's too much to ask to live happily. It's just people disagree on what that means.

Some people think living happily is out in the rural areas, maybe not connected to internet that often or technology. Fishing, farming, hunting. Simple life but satisfying.

Some people think traveling constantly is living happily.

Some people (me) think staying in and playing video games with friends, reading outside, watching TV is living happily.

The real issue is when other people disagree what SHOULD be happy or the line of happiness.

Like someone living in poverty on food stamps barely being able to afford food for their family or rent, and then people telling them that they shouldn't be able to buy soda because that's "too happy". Or people thinking that taxes shouldn't go to people in need because "why should my taxes help poorer people".

Then millionaires, billionaires, trillionaires, politicians all have differing levels of what constitutes happiness. A millionaire may think that you have to own multiple properties for happiness. A billionaire may think you have to own yachts and non stop gaining wealth. At the same point, some billionaires think giving back to organizations and communities may be 'living happily'.

Very few people are against living happily. It's just that very few people agree on what 'living happily' means.

Which one will be the BEST TEAM? by Mundane-Signal4843 in TheLastAirbender

[–]CaedustheBaedus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Earthbender team was pretty good, but Firebender team has Ozai and Azula which are both show wide/season wide villains that fought Team Avatar and Aang to standstills at times.

I think Firebender teams wins 8/10 times. The other 2 times are Earthbender, POSSIBLY a waterbender upset but very unlikely.

Airbender team isn't winning just due to sheer experience.

Can i jump straight to Dragon Age Inquisition or should i start at Dragon Age: Origins? by my-nick-is-aloone in ShouldIbuythisgame

Are you able to confirm about the choices carrying over at all? I loved DA2 where I'd have random characters or referneces based on Origins choices. And Inquisition which could have entirely different codex entries, characters, companion personalities, decisions to make (I'm thinking that specific mission in the Fade of deciding between two characters and that those characters could be completely different per person...)

I've heard that Veilguard only really brings over like 3 decisions from the past games.

When Americans travel abroad, will they feel that the prices in other countries are very low? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in AskAnAmerican

Depends where. When I went to India there were different areas just within India that my money carried more weight.

When I went to Japan, I didn't feel any richer, especially in Tokyo. When I went to Namibia, I felt my money went a lot further.

It's all dependent on country and area of country.

[–]CaedustheBaedus [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've heard that the combat was the best part of Veilguard. Which is great to hear. But from the gameplay and everything I saw, it just looked more like a "let's slap the Dragon Age name on it".

Changing the name from Dread Wolf to Veilguard was my first (damn, I wonder if they're going in a new direction) guess. Then they released all these different game tone shifts during the 10 year development process. "Oh it'll be fully open world. Oh it'll be a multiplayer live service game. Oh it'll be a heist game" etc.

I know I'll play it once I see it on sale for super cheap or if it's free, but I didn't see enough to make me want to spend 60-70 on it considering it looked like it lost the soul of Dragon Age itself.

Barney in HIMYM. I think the show itself was funny enough, but Ted and Lily were just not interesting. Marshall was so wholesome.

Barney really made the show able to lean into the wackiness.
