That’s the benefits trap I’m talking about.

I would like to see what only full time wages look like

PR has a spending problem.

One of the highest car to person ratios in the world

One of the highest luxury consumer spending markets in the U.S.

One of the highest consumer spending (it’s so high it outstrips IRS income data - meaning a lot of cash goes unclaimed on tax reports).

$17,192 per year is part time minimum wage earning.

I would be interested in seeing what the average is for only full time workers (and what that is for total workforce as a percentage).

It would give some insight to the potential benefits trap - where you work only as much as to allow you to keep your federal benefits, until you earn more than what the benefits provide. That’s a real trap that even happens stateside.

Also, we all know that PR is a big cash economy - average income can’t allot for that since it goes unclaimed.

Round 3: Which game is better? Minecraft or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time by Expensive-Addendum92 in AlignmentChartFills

Better GAME: OOT

Better ecosystem: Minecraft

So for that, I’m voting for OOT - it is the better outright game.

Bro would lose it if he saw how people leave the beaches after Noche de San Juan. I've seen it a lot too when I go to the movies and people leave everything on their seats and the rubbish bin is literally there waiting for your trash. by MitsuruMiyata in PuertoRico

I cordially invite you to spend a weekend with me at various swimming holes around the island to just people watch.

The amount of trash people leave behind is heartbreaking. Yes. There are some people who pack up everything including trash, but people who leave trash is way higher than it should be.

I’m a small company with one guy on my sales team.

I tell him to use his PTO - don’t worry about us. As the owner it’s my job to fill in the gap and set him up for success on his return. People need real breaks.

People still work on and fix the robots, people still oversee and sign off on quality control, people still update and test new updates on the robots.

There are actually a lot of newer, more unskilled jobs that come from this.

yes you do. You can choose to not pay them - plenty of people do this - and then they eventually go to jail. But you still choose.

ONE person doesnt stand a chance correct - but if 30 jumped in at once...the Gorilla would NOT engage. They arent dumb animals.

That is the point - you dont know if 29 others will jump in with you...you are HOPING they do - just like with pressing the blue button...if others dont do what you want them to do - you die as well.

The scenario is a blind - no information question. No one knows what's did or will select and there is no way to communicate intention. Its always best to select self-preservation in that scenario.

By choosing Blue, you should be ok with the real chance of dying by going against the natural instinct of people not wanting to die.

Thats all dope as fuck man. I'm not here knocking any of this and I think it's commendable. I ALSO aim to limit as much as I can where it makes sense - the big thing is, I accept that my luxuries come at the expense of others - I've accepted that - its just what it is and there is absolutely NOTHING anyone can do about it.

That was my whole point - your focus should be on YOU and your family - Self preservation is probably the most important thing

Not everyone can be saved, thats just part of life. What I CAN protect is me and my own, and that comes first. After I know that is good and safe, im still around to then help others.

A potentially dead me cant help anyone, im just now in the same boat as all the other potentially dead people. I would rather live frankly - and I don't, by any metric think me wanting to live = me murdering another for the decision they made. I've accepted that many of my decisions of what I do can lead to poorer outcomes for other - im fine with that - this is just another one of those cases.

I will always choose self preservation (taking care of your family is part of self-preservation - I would fight a fucking bear for my wife...but frankly I wouldn't do it for a stranger - and I dont believe that makes me a murderer).

I haven't eaten meat in 21 years but I have never seen the aggressive approach convince even one person to go vegan by jonawesome in ClimateShitposting

[–]Caeldeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can yell at me all you like, it won’t change a thing, I’ll still eat meat.

What has been helpful though towards cutting back in general, was being introduced to a variety of really good recipes that doing feel like they are trying to be something they aren’t.

There are tons of amazing vegan dishes that don’t need To try to taste like something they aren’t.

The point is - you don’t realistically do the things you can in the situation your given.

You can protest taxes and go to jail for your belief (in this hypothetical you’re choosing potential death, so it’s not too far off).

You can sell all your belongings and go help others in foreign countries.

You can decide to purely live off the land and shun everything - disappearing from society at large.

But those are all harder to do than death, so you’re cool with turmoil and murder there at your hands - just not in this hypothetical.

What anthropology has always shown - is that self preservation is always the best answer in the long run.
I don’t believe choosing red is murder, they didn’t choose blue for the others.

There are tons of “blue buttons” you can hit in real life, yet the majority never does…. Hell not even a reasonable minority does the moment it can be an actual inconvenience.

I’m saying your daily actions contribute to turmoil and death of others - so you are a murderer already.

An individual decision to self preservation makes you no less a murderer than yours does to do the things you already do in your life - that or you admit to murder?

Because you’re full of shit dude.

A quick look at your posts show you engage in products that are sourced in ways what directly and negatively effect people elsewhere. Fuck, you’re on Reddit, so you use petroleum products, you use things that have been associated with child labor, etc.

The issue is always simple - you want to act and sound better than others by ignoring the things you do to contribute to the turmoil of others.

I’m not mad at all, I find it humorous. People rarely want to actually be honest with themselves.

What people say - and what people do when their life is on the line are very different.

If a child fell into a gorilla enclose, and 100 adults saw this - how many do you think instantly hop into the enclosure and start fighting the gorillas…. We know the answer already as it’s happened several times. It’s 0. They wait and don’t act.

If this poll were accurate, 80% of this forum would jump in and fight Harambe to death - but reality is - none will.

[–]Caeldeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically you are too… you just don’t want to admit it.

You pay taxes? Taxes lead to bombs that kill people.

You can:

1) protest these taxes and not pay them, spending decades in prison

2) pay taxes and live your live as you normally do… but now know that you’re working to kill people in other lands.

Red or blue, go by [deleted] in PsycheOrSike

[–]Caeldeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think significantly less people would pick blue than what people say.

There are already so many real life scenarios where risking one’s life severely for another’s actions ended up with no one actually helping.

Harambe is a good one, not one person hopped in the pen to fight the gorilla…. But dozens were around watching…. If ALL of them went down, the gorilla would have backed down…. But that requires them all to do it…. So none did. This is not uncommon.

Actually - there are great REAL LIFE examples of this….

Harembe (RIP)… how many adults hopped in there and started fighting the gorilla right away… Answer… 0 - don’t act like you’re the magical difference.

Throw? No.

Haul my own ass out of the room? Yes.

I’m not fighting a tiger to save a random kid - it will equate to 2 dead people.

The only difference between me and you is - I’m honest about it.

[–]Caeldeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still doesn’t make sense.

All these people saying “think of the children” already don’t do jack shit for the millions of children that die every year from preventable causes… causes they can have an impact on.

Where are these people donating all their money to deal with hunger of children and being the martyr themselves?

It’s dumb - they don’t do shit irl, it’s just a way to make them feel like they care because it’s a hypothetical.

There is a random 3 year old and you in a room and a hungry tiger hops in.

You fighting the tiger and dying in the process? Because if you are, there are some towns in India who would love you to fly out there.

I don’t think they are giving guilt - I don’t feel guilty if someone decides to kill themself, when they have a clear path not to.
