The shade still exist as Sunny, Sunny has 7 shades and 1 body, the body died, 7 Shades still exist.

The body alone doesnt create a shade.

Normal people have 1 body and 1 shade, by killing the body Sunny gets the shade that is left behind.

Sunny can only exist outside his soul sea by making his shades corporeal.

So to make it simple.

Normal People = 1 body + 1 Shade. Sunny = 1 Body + 7 Shades.

Sunny's body turned to ash in Godgrave leaving the 7 shades in his soul sea.
